    Genuine Kladness media V copies

    Hello

Going to get rid of my alfagrog in the winter season and extend my K1 micro moviing bed media base.

Is there a difference between genuine k1 and the copy stuff you can get on say ebay?

    thanks

    Jim

Just out of interest why are you swapping the grog? I was under the impression that grog can remove Nitrate where as plastic media can't unless it's in something like a trickle tower.

Unless you have something else to remove Nitrate I think I'd be inclined to stick with the grog or at least use it somewhere else in your filter system rather than actually removing it completely.

didnt know grog removed nitrate? hmmmm

I also have a shower at 20k filled with BHM that has done wonders for nitrate and I also trickle in trickle out 15 percent water per week too

I have always found the grog can get dirty even post drum but now I am changing out more water seems to be helping keep muck down

    thanks

Well if you've got a shower running at 20K lph? you probably don't need the grog after all as that should be dealing with your Nitrate. Might be worth having it in your system somewhere though in case you need something extra in the future. Matured grog is going to be doing something isn't it? If it does start to get dirty then you could always stick it in a fine filter sock to keep it cleaner and also would be very easy to pull out and clean if required?

Hopefully someone else can confirm that grog removes Nitrate as I'm only thinking it does as I thought I read it somewhere but not 100% sure OK

I've got 15kgs of grog and 25l of crystal bio in a DIY shower (well, probably more of a trickle filter).

I only run about 3k lph over it, but my nitrates are always sky high.

So from my experience, grog doesn't remove nitrates. Although that could possibly be because I don't flow enough water over it? (Although I'm doubtful more flow will improve matters).

I'm currently thinking about getting CSM or BHM to replace the grog and crystal bio. I don't mind paying a bit more as a one off, if it'll genuinely keep my nitrates down.

Lol you might find your flow is too high for a trickle tower and too low for a shower so you either need to run it a lot faster or a lot slower for either to work as it sounds like you've probably just made a bio chamber basically ?

Yeah that did cross my mind lol.

I've now got a grow on set up as well, so want to keep running costs down. Hence why the flow is low. Although I could probably get it up to 5k lph for little extra cost.

Not sure if that's high enough so maybe speak to someone with a shower to see what they run theirs at and still get it to work? John1 made a small shower but I think he sold it to Ajm so i would ask John1 first seeing as he built it. Something makes me think John built 2, a big one which he may still have and a small one he sold to the Northern monkey Aj lol
