Was there for about 45 mins today, it was ok was looking for a nice shiro or showa didn't see anything of interest, I bought a 1 meter net, few vats were very impressive but didn't think much of the fish for sale though

There was a vat full of them on the stand as you go in to the right, can't remember the company though. I went hoping to sort out my drum pipework and found one stand had 2 4" ball valves which I got both of for £150 so not bad. Other than that, there was no pipework at all! I could easily have been in and out in half hour to be honest, I did leave with a nice 36cm tosai chagoi from select Nishikigoi though, as well as the ball valves and a koi sock. The chagoi was bred by the shop owner and is likely a male but has a good clean body and nice scale reticulation, far from the best chagoi you will ever see but personally if I was going to buy any koi cheap and not from a reputable breeder it would be chagoi & karashigoi, I was going to get one from cuttlebrook somewhere down the line but happy with my purchase today. It's already feeding like its been in the pond the whole time so hopefully will get a good size out of it.
On the whole I was a little disappointed with the selection of fish on sale, there was some nice Showa tosai as Seph mentioned but I was hoping for more variation from stands like cuttlebrook.

I would have liked to meet up today but I thought it would be best to keep myself to myself as I have a cold. Not Covid, regularly testing including last night, but a normal cold I caught off my little one. Hopefully in the not distant future there will be an opportunity!

Yep! didn't want to pass on my germs, strange how my little one is not too bad despite having the cold but me and missus now feel like death warmed up and she's happily playing on the floor! I didn't feel too bad yesterday but crap today. It is strange how Covid has changed things as before if I had a head cold I wouldn't have ever thought to wear a mask etc whereas now it just seems the norm.
Haha Smartin, so I did get spotted with the ball valves after all, they were 4" valves and heavy too!

Just got back from the show not as much there as in previous years and not a great selection of fish for sale just picked up two small ones a Showa and a tancho Showa
Will try and get there on the Saturday next year to perhaps get better pick of the fish

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
