sugar based should be water soluble, so quick rinse.
    is there any smell?
if so sodium bicarbonate is quite good for that.

from memory glucose syrup has a PH of about 4.5 to 4.8. so a 1000lts of tap water should up it just enough.
one ltr of PH2 will need ten lt to move it to PH3 will need one hundred lt to move to PH 4. Its a factor of 10 each point you need to higher it up the PH scale.

Sugar contamination will cause a massive drop in oxygen concentration so I would give it a good clean.

At Just Juice we had to have a huge tank sunk in the ground in case of spillages as any major spill was likely to kill everything in the local river.

id go for jig saw slow but sure. once you've got top off i suggest a trip to nearest scrap yard and scrounge some door window seals
the one's that the windows run up and down in. saves you having to sand down the edges, stops little legs cutting her hands and tidies up the apperance.

For all we had a crappie night last night cold strong winds I filled the tank late yesterday and left over night water was 16.1 on fill up and only dropped to 15.8 over night left in the open to all the wind don't think that's bad at all . Know it'll be different once the top is removed tho

Phosphate I've never done ever but says maybe 0.50ppm ???

Did a glass of tap water at the same time left over night and results seem to match
