    Costia back fish loss

After spending pretty much all this spring and summer battling ailments lost 2 more fish this week. Costia back again.

Cant understand why filter been cleaned regulary and also I have been treating quite a bit.

Its all getting a bit tiring now and I am serioulsy thinking of closing down my pond an knocking it on the head. also it costs too muh money to replace and why bother if this keeps happening.

Only treated with a double fmg treatment 4 days apart a fornight ago - yet I dont know why but it didnt work and costia today confirmed again by scrapes.

must of done 4 fluke treatments this year yet they are back too .

what has happened ? i had pretty much 10 years of no trouble exept the odd bit of trouble here and there then in the last 2 years suddenly ulcers, flukes recurring infections - alll this depsite my adding a drum and a shower so I had even more bio than before !!

My fist pond I look back and it was a joke compared to now - filter and size wise yet I had many trouble free years.

Ps my water params are fine and water goes through a 3 stage filter before going into the pond.

    thanks for listening ( reading)

    Jim

Sorry to hear about your troubles Jim, so many people in the same situation at the moment, have you added any new fish back that could have reintroduced anything ??

Have you considered bypassing the drum mesh during treatments by removing bungs/plates

Can relate Jim. I seem to have been constantly treating for one thing or another since spring last year. The previous twenty years or so were pretty much trouble free.

thanks for the replies. No new fish introduced nothing really

I had less trouble in the old days of my first pond 8k with one of those " 20,000 litres" all in one boxes with uv built in jobs.

Now with multibay and seperate BHM shower drum etc the last few years have been a disaster. at one point i got the hands on healthcare for koi dvd and was fascinated by ulcers as I had never come across one and never thought I would. Costia was a novelty almost as was flex bacteria. - flukes too - wht are those who gets them I would say.

I put so much effort in my pond its ridiculous and unfair may I say that this is happening.

heres hoping the FMG will work. I am even overdosing slightly to nuke these B23433rds

    Jim

I doubt it but you will be diluting it if/when you top up after the drum has done it's thing.
