    Timber ponds

Hi I am new to koi, but have had a small 360 gal pond for 30 yrs. So in my retirement I have decided on a 12 x 7 x 4.5 ft treated timber pond, with a bottom drain and gravity filter.

Id like advice and recommendations on this type of construction.

Do I need a concrete base laid to fall, or can I get away with a thinner blinding layer?

    Thanks in advance.
