Thread: You tube Koi Content

I'll be honest, I struggle to watch his videos, many of which drag on as he constantly repeats his pH and TDS levels, while failing to get much footage of his actual koi.
I have also noticed a few justified critical comments under his videos which are ignored or simply removed, and comments about the continuous flashing in his pond, but he deletes them too, which I think is very unfortunate.
His water is amazing, no doubt about that, but his koi just look obese and not particularly active.
His videos that contain commentary from Mike Snaden are well worth watching for that aspect alone.

I have watched most of them but recently find myself avoiding a few, as the content can be a bit lame. Having said that, I admire anyone who actually does it

Even if the content isnt so good , I find it quite useful - especially at this time of year - just to see other peoples ponds , and compare how the fish are behaving to my own .
Mine have been a bit up and down , lately , but seeing some of the vids , its not too different to what I`m seeing from theirsColin

Couldn't agree more! Even watching the videos featuring Mike Snaden I often find myself cringing - no doubt the guy knows his stuff but I find that whole fanboy / hero worship clique irritating, and often Mr. Snaden himself looks uncomfortable. I'm sure if I could afford to buy a third of a fish off him I'd change my tune!
Bring back Kevin Ellis I say - if only for the mischief making...

There's definitely some great channels out there who've built some fantastic videos to watch! I've been pretty slow in continuous uploads myself due to being busy with work/life. A lot of those such as Danny's Koi pond, Project Koi and so on are all in a discord group alongside quite a few others of us, if anybody would be interested in joining.

I like Mike`s video`s , but I think they probably have more appeal to those at the high end of the scale , who are looking at achieving maximum potential from show quality koi ect .
Little bit too much technical detail for someone like me , who just wants a colourful , trouble free , water feature .
Interesting , nonetheless !Colin

Hey bud - Discord is like a chat room/community building. I'm there with a fair few other koi keepers, a lot of those on youtube and so on. Just a place for us to share/talk about Koi (much similar to this forum) but think like a whatsapp group almost?
If you click on this link here, it'll let you join Any questions, give me a shout bud.

I do have a lil channel that followed my build but find it so hard to film and work lol it gets away from me and I’ve got loads of footage that can’t really be cut together I have a lot of respect for the bigger channels with how professional they are!

Hey Olly,
Is this your channel?

If so I enjoy the updates, and content definitely given me inspiration for my new build. Just seems your just a genuine guy with sharing your journey not trying to flog us a T-shirt or a mug.

Yeah that’s me buddy thanks for your kind words! It isn’t easy, just trying to show my build and not being a builder by trade that anything is possible inc fibreglass, which seems to cost a bloody fortune!!!

Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
