    Apex Practitioner minigrab or similar

I've got an Apex Practitioner microscope and would like to link it to my lap top. There's a minigrab usb adapter and software that's required but I'm struggling to find anywhere that sells them and have them in stock. Alternatively is there another option that does the same job? The Apex minigrab is about £80 so was hoping there was a cheaper option?

    Any ideas?

I don't think the Minigrab is a particularly fantastic piece of kit. The resolution is quite low and it magnifies the image quite a lot (meaning it takes longer to review the slide).

However, they come up on eBay now and again and nobody really bids on them. I set up an alert on eBay and after a couple of Months picked one up in original packaging for £20, then about 5 days later another one appeared and sold for just £16.

So unless your in a hurry that's the route I'd go down.

Recently a basic Apex microscope sold on eBay with the metal carrier complete with minigrab for £36 - Would have been worth buying just for the minigrab and the carrier then re-sell the microscope and get your money back!

Not in a real hurry but would be nice to have it or something similar as it is easier to see the image on a laptop than through the eye piece isn't it?

It's annoying that Amazon UK haven't got any in stock as I've got a £25 voucher for them

I gave up using a camera and laptop, far too much trouble. I bought a adapter that replaces the eyepiece and holds a mobile phone. Once you get it lined up it’s easy to scan the sample, take pictures and video. Not exactly high tech, but quick, easy does the job and only costs a few quid.

Anything with a recording function is handy.A good few years ago i bought a lovely showa that immediately came out in whitespot(probably sparked off by moving the fish).I contacted the seller just to let him know he had a problem, which was met with denials. After sending him a video of the scrape of his fish he apologised .I only contacted him for his benefit ,as it was easy to treat.I record all my scrapes, and even have videos of rotifers on different medias.

I think I've seen one of those adapters. Are they a universal fit or mobile phone and microscope specific?

I've seen some for about £33 on Amazon UK just not sure if they are the right things. Will see if I can find them again and put the link on here.

That's the universal adapter that others have mentioned right?
