I like the pond but don't like the pergola over it, looks out of place for such a fancy pond I think

Pond's grand and I'd give it space, I've no problem with the pergola either, the problem with it for me is that it looks like it has been dumped in the middle of a kids play area, or the middle of a school yard (same thing I suppose), that or in a hospital / institution therapeutic area for the benefit of the inmates they trust not to throw themselves in.

The pylon in the background doesn't help either, it starts giving it an industrial look which coupled with a lack of any planting to soften all the above is why it doesn't work for me either.

I think thats it, nothing wrong with pond but completely out of place in its surroundings

Looks like the kind of water feature you'd get near the entrance to some kind of theme park or water park.

I like it, would just like it more if it was in a garden setting.

I think you guys have nailed it....
Stick it in nicer surroundings and I'd probably love it...

The tarmac all around it don't help

Oh yeah, as ajm said and some FISH!

The pergola needs to be a band stand type dome with lots of lacy swirls and things.

As there are (apparently) no fish, the band can wear waders

I always think that rounded brick built raised ponds look like industrial chimneys. This pond is also in a brick wall surrounded space which is kind of adding to that effect.
Too much aeration means it hasn’t got an attractive water surface, and also the water doesn’t look clear so there’s no visual interest in the underwater view currently. I’m sure it could look an awful lot better with some nice fish in there and tubs of acers etc. on the ground round it to soften the look.

Oooo nice pond, descent sized blades, crappy pergola, hate the tarmac too... maybe if the Pergola was stained grey or something to lift it all a bit, as a whole it seems very Meh !!
