Thread: 3" cage

    3" cage

Thought that adding a cage onto the 3" pressure pipe input into my moving bed would be easy and cheap.... wrong!

Anyone come up with a ghetto solution to this? I've looked at nets, seives, grids, grilles, mesh... but nothing that looks easy to attach to 3"

do you mean a mesh cage like this?
depends on how big your media is to what size mesh...
i had trouble finding mesh for the K1 micro my DIY 'easy' so cut vertical slits with a chopsaw in a 110mm pipe

what's the bottom one Dave? Yeah I'm thinking of K1 micro or K1+ (I read that the latter is optimsied somehow for mb use?)... or maybe even Hel-X.

Can't cut the pipe unfortunately so looking for something that will go on the end.. .relatively compact ideally.

My outlet from my moving bed is 3" pipe with holes drilled and a plant pot tie wrapped on for an end cap ... rough and ready but it works , was actually thinking of removing the plant pot and just heating the end of the pipe and squashing it together to seal it.

Do they not do a proper stop end like they do for 110mm?

Like the plant pot idea... hadn't thought of that. An end cap could work I guess but quite expensive and I'd have to drill a lot of closely packed holes through it. I'll have a look for some pots... in fact I wonder if there are any aquatic plant pots that may be an option....

Ace I love simple and cheap solutions, my plant pot has been in place for 2 years now and given sterling service so far
