Shower change
I currently have a plastic shower holding 45 litres of CSM but thinking about changing to a stainless steel shower with 90 litres capacity.
Would I better to keep the media I have and add 50 litres of BHM so I still have mature media or just go with full BHM from the start?
If I keep the mature media I could put it in the top two trays and then it would be a simple swap out in future?

Yes capacity. I have an issue with buying fish and not being able to take my own advice of needing to slim down on stock with a small pond! I have upped my moving bed to around 225 litres of micro K1 and K1 plus so thinking if I double the shower size as well.
I have been trying to plan a pond size increase but I just don’t have the space with the garden unfortunately.

Already at 1.8m and that is too deep I feel, really want more surface area but I just can’t make it work.

My first thought was the same as yours top tray or two with the old media. But perhaps adding the media though the BHM so it’s mixed and remove later when adding more BHM what are others thoughts on this?
do you recon it will colonise faster this way? though it does mature very fast compared to something like K1.

That is the only real option but the thought of more grabber lorry’s and muck puts me off. I am at 13k litres so should be able to have 12-15 decent fish with the amount of filtration, flow and heat I have.

The copings were just a job I never got around to and to b fair am glad as makes it easier to remove liner to fit bd this year.. Yeah the rockery will be planted at some point. Waiting for posts and rails to turn to to fix some bamboo screen to to keep the next door out lol then start the planting I've got a nice red bamboo to plant in corner but wanna build a filter box for a skimmer and sieve first and plant around that (skimmer will gravity to seive then in time pump long right pond wall to a shower in back wall) I want a smashed up boat to sit on the big rocks and plant inside it but can't found out at the moment
