    Bermuda / Evo Aqua

    Hi All,

Does anyone run either one or both of these pumps?

Anyone know if they are actually manufactured by the same company and are actually the same pump apart from covers?

As far as I can see from photos of the Evo pump, the control module and connections look exactly the same as my Bermuda and there seems to be some other similar features?

I was just wondering if there would be any reason why the Bemuda wifi control module would not just plug and play on the same Evo Pump ?

Its the same with their Auto feeders? Obviously made by the same manufacturer?

I wouldn't be surprised if they are same maker and rebranded. You have to say how many factories can there be making enough stuff to be viable business. Probably make pumps for a lot of brands

They also look like they're from the same factory as Jebao pumps too.

Whether the WiFi module will work across brands, i'm not sure. They may've built them to not be cross brand compatible on purpose.

Just have a 20000 Evo pump coming to replace a Bermuda that developed a fault after a couple of weeks and the retailer couldn't supply another 20000 Bermuda as they are now discontinued?

I might just meter the output connections on both controllers if the have the same plugs?

i'd agree that they very likely come from the same factory,
similar things happen in carp fishing tackle visually identical across brands.

but one of the things i've noticed looking at pumps recently is...

the 30,000lph EA vari pump runs at up to 450 watts and up to 5.5 meters head
the aqua forte 30,000lph vario s at up to 300 watts and up to 8 meters head

    thats a big difference in electrical cost 300 watts v 450 watts.... £197 a year @ £15p/ kWh

No surprises, Evolution Aqua bought the Bermuda brand around five years ago.

As far as i’m aware they are all the same, just rebranded. Have you considered the Pro Performance pumps?

Out of my price range I'm afraid at the moment and possibly overkill on the size of my pond?
Maybe consider something like this as I upgrade items over the coming years.
    EZ-pond 1200i Semi-Raised Pond, Spin-drifter BD, Oase Aquaskim, Oase Proficlear Compact Gravity, 1x Bermuda 10,000, 1x Evo-Aqua 20,000 Vari Wi-fi Pumps, 2x Evo-Aqua 70L Air Pumps , Evo-Aqua 55w UV, Aqua-Sieve Midi, 3 Tier Fabricated Stainless Shower, Hydro-Pro Z7 Heat Pump, 48" Big Blue De-chlorinator, Profi Auto Feeder & Seneye Pond Pack.

The pricing seems very different? The Bermuda 20,000 is twice the price? 399 v 200 for the EA delivered at Aurora. Alot of extra for the wi-fi feature. Theres a 10,0000 available here mind for 149.99, compared to 289 at Bradshaws. Most places seem out of stock, the Wi-fi is appealing but id stick to a proper dealer and recognised brand in case it goes wrong.

I read something last year that Ea had took over the selling of the Bermuda pump but strange that theirs was exactly the same looking.

    Hi Spongebob,

To cut a long story sort of short

When I put my pond in last year, Alan at EZ pond supplied me with the 10000 Bermuda pump as part of the package.

When I added the bakki shower I decided to upgrade from the 10000 to a 20000 and thought I'd stick with the Bermuda as the 10000 version seemed good value for money with the added advantage of Wifi and I wouldn't need to remove the wiring or control panel, I'd just change some pipework, plug the new 20000 Bermuda in and away I'd go.

I then found out that very few retailers had stock of the 20000 as they were being discontinued, however I found a company Fastlight based in Basingstoke that still had a couple in stock .(A recognised retailer/dealer that also happens to have a Ebay shop )

I ordered and installed the new pump no problem and everything seemed fine.

Anyway after a couple of weeks whilst doing some cleaning of my sieve and having the pump turned off, when I re-started, it went straight into stall mode impeller jammed (Code E05)??
I tried resetting but no luck. I took the pump out and checked the rotor etc and everything seemed fine. I tried another control but still the same.

Anyway after contacting Rob at Fastlight, I found out he was now out of the Bermuda 20000 and wasn't getting any more.

However he has been brilliant and very helpful. He sent me the new Evo 20000 overnight and told me to get it installed and make sure all is good and Im 100% happy then we can sort returns and any difference money wise.

I've checked the plug on both pumps and it is exactly the same. So I'm tempted to get the EVO in and plug the Bermuda control in and see if it works the Evo pump?

After all the Vari control and Wifi part is in the control unit, not the pump which is just a motor that needs the power and earth etc supplied by the control unit.

The instruction manuals are even the same. The fault codes/display is exactly the same.
Evolution haven't even bothered to change the photos in the maintenance section, which still shows the Bermuda pump???

The difference between the EA and Bermuda fish feeder Is the EA one has all the settings built into it whereas it looks like the Bermuda one is controlled via a timer plug adaptor, and is half the price of the EA one!

Just to add, the all pond solutions auto fish feeder is the same as the EA one too, but £60 and lasts up to 3 months with what I assume is a rechargeable battery, as it has a solar panel on the top too. I may get one for my pond in summer!

Hi guys, anyone thinking of buying pumps or equipment (via me or any other retailer) the prices are currently being revised as the new annual price list has been issued by the main wholesalers.

Just a heads up... might get last years pricing on some items if ordered are quick as retailers now have to review their pricing etc...

    Cheers

Just a quick update and maybe some useful info?

Plumbed the EVO 20000 in at the weekend in place of the faulty Bermuda 20000 and the answer is yes the Bermuda Wifi control works perfect with the Evo pump

I cant understand why Evo don't offer this control as an option.

On a separate note the the 2" outlet has a small weep behind the 2" threaded adaptor even though I put plenty of PTFE on the thread, the flat sealing washers supplied in the box were only 1 1/2"

I didn't need them on the Bermuda as the pump threaded outlet and inlet were longer for some reason?

Maybe I've overtightened the adaptor and its distorted a little?

Just a little more interesting info?

Apparently the company that manufacture a lot the pumps mentioned previously is a Chinese company called Boyu Industries.
