    Solar heater

With the promise of warm temperatures tomorrow I decided to make sure my DIY solar heater is ready for the day, but on inspection it looks like its got a bit hot without water circulating through it, it's bandaged for now but I'm thinking I need to make new ones

    El scorchio Solar heater

I've stopped using mine as the amount of crap (dead biofilm?) coming out of it was horrendous.

Sorry Im not that organised lol its 250 meters of plex underfloor heating pipe on a 10 foot piece of triple wall polycarbonate, sprayed black, with 10 mm clear polycarbonate over the top to keep wind chill off it, it's fed from a 3000 lph pump from the clean side of my nexus 310 and I have a digital thermostat to shut the pump off if the water temperature gets too much

Can't beat a bit of hot chocolate - saved you a few quid on a velvetiser though

Anyone tried simply using a brass coil heat exchanger in the filter, then pumping water (perhaps with an additive to keep from freezing)?

I see CK do a stainless steel coil: https://www.cotswoldkoi.co.uk/produc...eat-exchangers that could be plumbed in to a closed circuit (with a small expansion tank). A small 24/48V pump could then circulate the water in the separate loop once the thermostat indicates the temp is high enough above the pond temperature.

An old 24/48V PV electric cell could then provide pump power..
