    Returns Flow Control

    Hi all,

Is this an acceptable way to split a return from a skimmer line via a sieve and a 20000 litre variable pump?
I haven't shown all the isolation valves at pump and sieve and skimmer etc.
The ball valve at the bakki is always fully open and I control the flow rate to the bakki by adjusting the amount of flow allowed back via the ball valve situated at the below water direct return?

Looks ok to me Ruffers but maybe better useing 2ins pipe at least for the bakki.

1.5ins is ok up to 10000 but better with 2ins with a 20000.

    Thanks John,

It would be a bit of a job to change all the 1 1/2" pipe now maybe an upgrade for next year?
I could if it would it would help use 2 inch pipe from pump exit then split via a Y fitting rather than a straight T?
Then through 2x swept 2" 45 elbows reduced to 1 1/2" to both returns?

It will work ok with 1.5” yes, but would get a better flow for less electricity and wear on the pump if you used 2”.
A Y split is better than a T for reducing resistance.

That would be a lot better mate and you can control the flow well, but as you say would leave the bakki one fully open.
