Xclear Profi Pond Heater 2kW ???

Just bought one of these brand new, installed it today, as soon as the thermostat kicks in it blows the plug fuse.
The fuse in the plug is 3A, now I'm no electrician but 3A on a 2KW heater doesn't seem right, surly that should be a 13A.
Who has one and what size fuse is in the plug please as I'm struggling to find any info on this.

Should be 13amp fuse. A 3amp fuse will pass less than 1kw before blowing

That has to say something about the quality control if they're selling brand new 2kw heaters with a 3amp fuse!

It's not uncommon to buy cheap Chinese made products such as 20w LED strips or 16w aquarium filters fitted with 13 amp fuses, but you definitely wouldn't expect the other way around from a top brand!

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed, went for this one as it is considered a decent brand, all sorted now though.

    3KW is between 12.5 to 13 amps.

If you work on 1KW is 4 amps then you want an 8 amp plug top fuse but I don't think they are available so you'd have to go for a 10 amp or 13 amp plug top fuse.

Maybe it's the new eco low energy consumption model

It came with a plug type I have not seen before, it's a 2 pin plug (I think) connected into a 3 pin plug, I'll put a pic up when I'm back at my garden centre tomorrow where the grow on pond is. I'm putting the wrong fuse down to a simple mistake. I will be getting the electrician who does work for us to give it the once over that's for sure. It seems to be working well though, I'm running it through a Bio Green Thermo 2 external thermostat rated at 3kW, pond was 10c, set it up at 1.30pm to go to 12c, when I left off at 5pm it was up to 11c so a slow steady rise.

I've seen that sort of thing before, it's like a shaver socket style 2 pin plug pushed into a 13 amp plug top. Some have a clip or a screw to hold the 2 parts together. It's an easy way of making a European appliance capable of being used in both the UK or Europe without the need to change the plug top.

You may find that they use that odd plug set up as you can't fit a fuse into one of those 2 pin shaver type plugs? Also I'm not sure how European countries fuse their plugs or sockets although in Spain I think they use wet string and 6" nails
