    Seneye issues

    Hi all,
Just had a massive panic,my seneye just text me to say my amonia was above threshold I had set 0.3 and my ph had dropped to 6.4 ,just done tests and all is good ph of 7.2 and amonia of 0.07(hanna pocket checker),tried cleaning the little sim card/slide ,still no joy still reading high, anyone else had issues with the slides, still have 23 days left before it runs out ,dont really want to put a new slide in,but I'm guessing I will have toSeneye issues

    Thanks
    Arny

    Don't change the slide!

I haven't had the same experience but if the Hanna checks are good let it develop for 24 hours. How is the trend shown by the Seneye? I know it's a concern when the texts arrive but a look back through the past readings will help. If there is a general trend in the direction of the limits then check again in the morning with the Hanna, but a sudden departure from previous stable readings would suggest to me that the alarms are an anomaly.

If the Seneye readings don't re-converge with the Hanna readings you could try a new slide but it will need 24 hours soak time anyway and you may find things are back to normal by then. If not fit the slide but don't activate it - it should still return readings (I think) but won't prompt alerts. If by then you still think the first slide is duff complain to Seneye help desk.

I haven't come across that before, can you expand please?

My kh out the tap is usually only around 2-3 so I buffer with bicarb.

Will take some tests this morning and post again.

    Take a look at https://answers.seneye.com/en/water_...ghlight=seneye

    And also test your KH

Interesting reads, both. Thanks for the links.

Having suggested Arny should look at the trend rather than the spike I got a warning from Seneye this morning!

pH apparently fell from 7.4 to 6,74 in 30 minutes! Temperature and nh3 readings remained stable so it is a little puzzling. I wouldn't have thought that kind of change in 10000l of water was possible but it has been raining pretty much non stop for 36 hours so perhaps run off from the covers or copings close by the Seneye could have had an immediate but short term effect on the reading.

Old school testing of the pond water with a Colombo kit indicates pH of 7.5 and kH of 3. Hanna measure of ammonia and nitrite are satisfactory so I will keep an eye on it.

    Hopefully Arny will report back.

    Hi all results are in
    Ph 7.2
    N03 40
    N02 0
    Nh3/nh4 0.07
    Gh 8 drops
    Kh 2 drops(normally 5)
    Pond temp 17

After reading the articles suggested ,I have added some bi carb to increase ph&kh ,also checked my scale on seneye ,no gradual increase in ammonia just a huge spike at 16:30 hrs yesterday, after cleaning slide ammonia is now dropping but not to where it should be ,normally I have found the seneye to be quite accurate at ammonia reading, but could never get it to read the ph correctly, incidentally the ph on the seneye is still reading at 6.4 ,but u can live with that until I change the slide....

Thanks for your help with this issue

Good stuff, tbh i always use the seneye just to alert that something maybe wrong, out of water maybe filter leak etc etc, then i double check they are good at that, but in my view not accurate enough for a true measurement...

I looked at the Seneye because I think they are a great idea however I have low KH (natural 4) and they advised that at KH levels below about 8 it wouldn’t be able to take accurate readings particularly of PH, not sure I could explain why though but presumably something to do with conductivity. Might explain your problem?
