    Seneye Help !!!

First things First....Happy New Year One & All!

I consider myself fairly tech savvy, but I'm struggling with my Seneye set up somewhat

So time to admit defeat and seek help/advice from the trusty Extreme Koi Lads & Lasses
(probably suit someone suitably Wifi/tech minded )

So, I recently purchased a Seneye Pond Pack. (Great?)

Opened it all up and followed the set up described.

Connected the SWS module via ethernet cable to my router in the house and proceeded to set up an account and register the SWS etc.
Placed the slide in a pond water sample as required for 24hrs.

Whilst the SWS was hardwired to the router, I logged into my new account on the Seneye Me website and checked out the dashboard in all its glory. (Excellent)

Obviously, at this point the slide was still soaking and the Slide device and Wi-Fi module weren't connected to the SWS.

I then proceeded to disconnect the SWS from the router and install everything in the dry box at the pond. Whilst Observing the the Seneye Instruction Warning Not To Connect the Wi-Fi module.

All went well and I installed the pre soaked slide into the device and downloaded the Seneye V2 App to register the slide.

    Problems started

#1 : Downloaded App isn't showing the device (contacted Support as instructed)

    Seneye Screen Shot.jpg

    # 2: House router was too far away from SWS module / Wi-Fi Module (So I installed a TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi PoE Access Point ) and connected the Seneye Edimax Wi-Fi module & set this up on the new access point .

#3: I connected Edimax module to the Wi-Fi on the access point all ok.

    #4: I then Connected t
he SWS to the Edimax this all went ok.

#5: The SWS lights are showing network connected , connected to Seneye Servers and communicating with Seneye servers, but I still cannot access the website dash board or App dash board to register the slide and to top it all off the power light now isn't illuminated even though the module obviously has power?

Just had an email from Seneye:
They reckon very strange not to have a power light ?
They want me to reconnect my SWS to the house router so they can check the SWS it out?

Mine went down over Christmas and I assumed a wifi problem but not so. If you connect a device (laptop, tablet or phone) via the seneye edimax router can you access the internet? It appears as an access points in the list on my laptop and is an easy way of proving it works without dismantling anything.

Powering down the SWS for about 10 secs and then powering up again restored service.

I don't recognise anything missing from your description of the set up routine.

The seneye will measure temperature without a slide

    Thanks Jim,

Seneye emailed me yesterday and asked if I could connect the SWS directly to the house router again today and they would check things out.

I think there could be a problem in the way the first set up of the SWS etc is done directly connected to the house main hub/router and then when I installed everything at the pond I'm using the outdoor access point?

Their web set up instruction is a mess though, it could be a lot clearer and I'm usually pretty good with this sort of thing??

The fact you need to create an account with an email and password and then there is a different log in needed for the dashboard which requires a user name and password?

Whatever I do I cannot manage to log in to register the slide? even though I have registered a username and password??

I also haven't been able to open the mobile V2 App at all. Uninstalled/installed numerous times?

I did manage to access my dashboard last evening when I plugged back into the main router but when I tried again this morning no luck.

    So frustrating.

    Update......
Managed to finally get things sorted and glad to say its now in the pond and working great
In the end seneye found the SWS was running old software. I had to do a re-boot, download the latest software version onto a pen drive and then upload that to the SWS before reconnecting everything and refitting at the pond.
it was a proper head scratcher though

Very odd! I can understand stock kicking about at a dealers but it should surely have updated automatically when connected to the internet.

    Glad you have it sorted:-)

    Hi Jim,

You would think so these days?
See email from Seneye below and the process they asked me to follow.

Although brand new and un opened.
I did buy the Pond Pack off Ebay trying to save a few quid, so I suppose you could say lesson learnt?
You pays your money, you takes your chances?

    FROM SENEYE...
"We have examined the SWS logs again and can see that the SWS is still running a very old FW and therefore the device is not being recognised.
To download the latest FW you will need to put the SWS in bootload mode and then physically install the FW into the device.
To put the SWS in bootload mode please unclip the back of the SWS and then hold down the button next to port D.
Please, then power off and power on the SWS whilst holding down port D. The lights should then flash as in the link below, please then follow the instructions:
    https://answers.seneye.com/en/Seneye..._bootload_mode
    *
Once you have finished this process please then reconnect the device to the SWS ".

Hmmmmm interesting.... I never managed to get my wi-fi module working so still have it plugged into the LAN with a cable out of my office window

I was going to tackle it over Christmas but the weather put me off, so I may try something similar when the weather gets better again.

The access point I used was a TP link. EAP225.

    https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-...ap225-outdoor/

It was really easy to install/set up.

I also managed to get my Bermuda pumps linked to this, which I struggled to connect to the house Wi-Fi.
I can now control everything via app from anywhere. (Handy as the pump app has a feeding button, which shuts the pump down for 10 mins) so I don't have to go anywhere near the filter house and pump control panel.

I think half the issue connecting the Seneye and the pumps to the Wi-Fi was partly signal strength from the house but also operating on 2.4 GHz? Which although I have BT's singing and dancing 'Wi-Fi everywhere' package, it clearly isn't Maybe its a Hub setting issue, but it doesn't seem to like 2.4GHz kit?

Also the pumps and possibly Seneye work on 2.4GHz which you can set the the TP link up easily to utilise over 5GHz and because the access point is outside the Wi-Fi signal is now great. Even my phone automatically jumps onto it when I'm in the garden.
