    Anoxic baskets

So I’m going to give this a go. I’ve got plenty of room for more than enough baskets by my reckoning.

just wanted to ask what baskets others have used. Seen the Finofil ones that are readily available. Any others that are recommended?

    Thanks

I just used plant baskets bought online, 28cm x 28cm if I recall correctly. The only problem is the quality is variable. Some supplies were paper thin and many split easily when moving the wet baskets for cleaning out etc.

Cat litter is hard work, I used this (as did RS2000 IIRC) -

    https://www.kaizenbonsai.com/moler-m...-growing-media

    in these 29 x 29cm baskets -

    https://www.pond-planet.co.uk/pond-c...d-baskets-p851

I have had occasion to lift the full wet baskets and they flex but stayed in 1 piece.

Oase are much sturdier but (natch) more expensive:-( I bought a couple to compare and if stacking them I would probably go for the Oase product.

Sanicat is the one to go for and they make Kitty Friend as seen in Pets At Home. The pink stuff (Sanicat/Kitty Friend) is 100% Danish Moler Clay and is much less expensive than the same stuff sold by Kaizen. Moler has many trade names across the world and is used in horticulture as Terramol, Moler and half a dozen other trade names. All the same stuff from the same opencast mine. Noticed last year that it was being added to big name garden compost to reduce the amount of real peat in the bag. I use it (Sanicat) for bonsai, plant pots and anoxic baskets.

I used the same as @Sammy66 has bought - JBL Aqua basis plus.

Seneye reports total free ammonia of 0.051 ppm this morning, having peaked at 0.07 soon after feeding yesterday around mid day:-)
