I've been using the API kit this year. Easy to use and good value for money.

You mean this?
I think you are likely correct considering dihydrogen monoxide is a technical name for water..
I believe it has been used in a few hoax’s in the past where people said that it’s coming out of people home taps and to get it banned
Pretty funny

That's correct but the complete answer that explains the hoax is in the link at the end of the article.

Just to add to this - I used to use the API test kit but have switched to the Colombo one, and the reason is very simple. The Colombo one comes in a lovely case! OK, it's not really lovely, but it is handy and if you're organisationally challenged like myself it's great to have a case where eveything has its place and is always where it's meant to be. I know the API kit has a box, but the Colombo case is better. I don't see any difference in the quality of the tests, though the Colombo plastic test tubes are a bit rubbish and the seal isn't great on them (not that it really matters). On the flip side they don't smash if dropped. Also there are also some extra tests in the Colombo kit I think.
Just a trivial difference but it makes it better for me!

I now use and stock the Columbo Test Lab.
I do have a i-dip test kit but have never been bothered to use it...
Cheers

I always used the Colombo tests but picked up a cheap Hanna and discovered the tests cost much the same and I don’t have to play guess the colour. Absolutely live it, so easy to use I’d recommend watching EBay or whatever for a secondhand one if you can. Still use Colombo KH and GH though as even I can spot the colour change and count
