Thread: Intake Bay

    Intake Bay

I think we've pretty much decided on an intake bay for our in ground natural looking pond, rather than a skimmer, but by god the plastics are expensive!

so as the intake bay looks more aesthetically pleasing (and slightly easier maintenance) imo as opposed to a skimmer, it's costing a shed load more.

    was this video mainly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdJ9FTXLh-U

anyone come across a DIY bodge up of an aquablox & pump vault?

was thinking of just cutting up a filter box of some kind, as the pump vault to my untrained eye, just looks like a lidded box with some slots in to allow the pump to draw water in, the aquablox looks like a glorified milk crate

Looks like a lot of maintenance to me compared to this: https://absolute-koi.com/subcat1266.html

I have an Ultraskim gravity fed into an Ultrasieve which to me looks very unobtrusive and requires very little work - It just removes floating debris 24/7 which is collected by the sieve and immediately removed from the water system. To clean the sieve and remove all the waste I just open a slide valve and push down the weir to purge everything. I don’t need to keep an eye on it or even get my hands wet.

as said, we have a "natural" in ground pond.

this is another video of how they're built, as for maintenance (other than if needing to get to the pump), it's made out to be just a matter of skimming a net over (my parents in their late 60s won't want to be bending down to floor level every day to empty the skimmer basket) and is it has a stream and loads of plants/flowers/trees in the garden would be getting filled up a lot.
