Don't give up
This morning I got up to let my dog out to be greeted by one of my koi out the pond. She appeared lifless when I picked her up. While holding her I saw her eye move slightly. Remembering something my wife read to me about someone who found a apparently dead fish out the pond I held her mouth open and under the waterfall. After 10 minutes or so I felt pressure on my finger, another 10 minutes and some movement from her fins and gills. I moved out from under waterfall slightly and gills moving rapidly. I moved my hand away but she immediately rolled over. I held her upright next to water fall for about s hour and she then moved of very slowly. This all started at 6am. She is now swimming slowly round the pond still breathing quite fast but better. Just hope she makes it time will tell. Done a full water test all good, no signs of parasite in pond so not sure why she jumped out the pond.
The things I learnt from this is, never give up and how cold the pond is holding your hand in it for nearly 2hours this time of year lol

Sure it will be fine now Nige, the colder ambient temp probably helped it to survive, i reckon you literally found the fish in the final few seconds of a recoverable state...... it will pant and be slow for a few days due to the shock etc, your waterfall being well oxygenated probably helped too, good effort i bet your hands were well cold...........

I had exactly the same happen earlier this month to two new Koi on different days. (Captured on cctv)
One fish was out of the pond overnight for a good 4hrs +. on the grass. luckily a cold wet evening. When my wife or the dogs to be precise discovered it at 05.30 am there was no sign of life.
I still went through the resus process anyway and bingo after a while she was back swimming and believe it or not back feeding the same day??
I did the same with both fish and glad to say they are both fine now, although my Utsuri has a scar where it damaged itself on the patio.
Lesson learnt.... Pond now netted
