    Filtreau drumfilter

Hi how high should the float switch be on the metal bracket gravity fed system also no red light on controller

I have an AEM easy drum pump fed set up so will be slightly different but I just moved the float up and down to give me the correct running height in the drum and not too frequent cleaning.

As far as I'm aware I have no lights on my controller either (although never look at it in the dark so may have a slight glow?) and no lights showing on my UV unit, although this may just be because I haven't reached the first point on the UV hours counter yet.

I've got a Filtreau HF30 and did the same as James... just moved it up/down until I was happy with the regularity of the cleaning. Probably a good idea to turn the drum off when you move the sensor... you're unlikely to get your hand caught when the drum moves, but if you move it and the spray comes on you'll get a little wet

Viv, On a gravity system i.e. water from pond into drum fed by gravity, your float actually needs to be on the "dirty" side of the drum. After mucking about for ages trying to get the float on the clean side of the drum accurately controlling (but not) what is ostensibly the pond water level I bought another cheap float from ebay fitted it on the dirty side and connected the two floats in series. When the dirty side of the drum reaches a certain level (the pond is of course at the same level) the float OPENS the circuit and the drum starts. I cut the wires from the existing float where it came out of the drum and wired the new float in series so if either float activates (the reed relay inside itself opening) the drum will operate.

Or you could use the existing float by removing the drum and unscrewing the float, extending the wires if need be and refitting the float in the dirty side of the drum upside down. Then refit the drum. The existing AEM float (that I have and the way the drum came) detects "low water" and switches the drum on and "no water" and switches the drum off.

    Hi Kenny
new member but picked up your answer to post about fiktreau drum. Having same issues the drum doesn't extend cycle and is cleaning every 30seconds upto max 3:30 mins (best I got from moving) screen isn't even that dirty. I note you said turn float upside down being thick what will that achieve? I'm using far to much water need some advice. The drum level is just under waste tray but with pump on lowest 30 keeps emptying the bio bay of water to.

    Filtreau drumfilter

I've got a Filtreau HF30 and changed the float to gravity fed and switched the float to the clean side and inverted the float. The problem I have have is all is working well except the UV only comes during the cleaning cycle and does not stay on as it should??
Does any one know what the fix may be??
