I think you can plug some into a socket.Ive always got an electrician to do a dedicated fused socket from the fuseboard

Thy dont draw any special kind of power, any old outdoor socket would generally be enough.

Some drums have a panel you plug your pumps, UV and a pressure pump for the drum cleaning bar into. If that’s the case with the one you’re looking at then add up the wattage of all the components and work out if a standard 13 amp fuse and socket would be enough.

drums only consume generally maximum 1500w so are normally always on a 3 pin plug , you can hard wire but thats expensive and not needed .

    messaged you mate.

I've only just started to look at drums, I've got a few set up options in my head,my pond is 3000gall with a nexus on the b.d run enclosed in the filter bay and on the skimmer line i have a bead filter which is sited at the back of the pond away from the filter bay ,so the options going through my head are
Get rid of nexus add drum and use bead for the bio side all enclosed in the filter bay.
The drum before the nexus doesn't work because the footprint is to big.
Or do I get rid of bead and nexus and keep it all neat and tidy with a combi unit ,
Ideally plug and play with a budget of 2000 ..

    Hi mate,

For me a no brainier for that sized pond and budget - Filtreau Combi Next. Decent build, big enough, easy installation, built in UV and cleaning pump.

If you have room for the Nexus or bead to stay too then that will only help the bio after the Combi unit. Alternatively add a shower after if stocking levels dictate more bio and room is an issue.

Happy to source at a competitive price if that interests you.

    Cheers

    Hi Scotty,
My pond is the same size as yours 3000 gals and as said just plug and play.
I use the Draco solum 25 which obviously can do 2500 ltrs an hr and works great on my system.
Not saying to go for a Draco but more the size,I was going to go for a combi but thought the bio was small so sold my nexus 300 but kept the k1 and made my own bio to fit in the space I had.

I use two pumps one on the bio and the other on the shower.
You could go for a Draco drop in for the Nexis.

mine has far larger internal drums for far higher flow rates , and reduced cleaning/wasted water/electricity and upto 1/2 the price cheaper than all marketed drums/combi's

    leave it with you.

    Hi mate,

I would probably recommend the HF30 rather than the 20 given the size of your pond.

    cheers

If you have a nexus and flow rate is not over 13k go for a draco drop in save 800 quid from your budget and that will go striahgt into your outdoor mains no worries.

Drums will run at less than 1000w when cleaning, but I would recommned their own plug, fused spur, or wiring in to a Matsuko Switch box.

Any other switch box, I wouldn't bother.
