I now have to decide where to put the new pool and maybe a future pond! I think the pool would be best on the lower paving.

WOW - what a fantastic house and garden. All it needs is a pond to make it a home My mind is now made up - you can't possibly give up yet!
I'd site the pool wherever it'll get the least amount of cold wind on it. Re leaves over old pond, if that's still an option - just put a net or polys over it - problem solved!
BTW - what is your patio stone - is that granite or porcelain? It's stunning.

Both! You lucky devil My patio is two tone granite edged with charcoal blocks and I love it, but what wouldn't I give to have a porcelain patio ... other than an awful lot of money that I didn't have when I did my refurb hahaha!

With the two level patio you have, maybe you could think of doing a pond like I did that gives you views from every window in the back of the house, as well as from the summer house and both patios. The lower patio is superb to sit on and watch the fish because they are literally eye level with you. In the summer we set up the table down there so we can share our evening meal with the fishes

Just image something like this, but on a much grander scale, with your incredible collection of fish looking out the windows at you...

After reviewing everyone's replies i think the best idea is to set up the new pool with added insulation at the new house and see how i feel about the fish being there before deciding on a sale or new pond.

    Many thanks again

Cracking collection there mate. I know it must be difficult to decide as its a big investment building a new pond. Definitely wait till spring and of you do decide to part with some fish rest assured there's a vulture from Sudbury waiting to pounce

I'm with Fred, a pond would look cracking on the lower paving and you could have the best of both worlds with it being floor level from the higher level then a window on the grass side so you can see in from the sun lounger with your sangria!

    Sorry I disagree hahahaha

I would build pond at lower level opposite side, grassed side with window down that side

So you could look over from upper level and across from lower patio through window

    just saying . . my fee is reasonable . . . . Call me

The decision has been made, I have thought long and hard about it and have decided i do not want to build another pond. Rather than move the fish twice i will be listing everything for sale, fish and filters for collection asap. If anyone would like to view the fish please text or call me on 07837389792. A listing will now be created on the for sale section.
