Help with leaf catcher/strainer
I need to replace my external pump which is a pool pump with a built in strainer. My setup means I need the new pump to have a sealed strainer like in pool pumps.
I really want to get when of the variable speed pumps but none come with a strainer and they just don’t seem to be for sale in the UK. No problem in the US but I just can’t find a separate strainer/leaf catcher in the UK. Anybody know where I can get one that isn’t a ridiculous price for such a simple device.

Hi Trevor, can I ask why you need one with a strainer?
Pond pumps in the UK are generally solids handling, which means no need for a strainer.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

External pumps aren’t normally, and I don’t want to pump mashed up solids into my bead filter even if I use an Aquamax or similar.
And of course most importantly, that’s what I want
Priming pots, leaf catchers are very easy to get in the US, but in the UK there’s just the odd few that are dedicated to a particular pump like the sequence.

Blackburn house koi do them but they’re £100, which is way overpriced in my opinion

Hi mate,
I have an old strainer here that was attached to my blue eco before I changed for a sieve - which is soon to be changed for a drum.
i am happy to offer it to you for £55 delivered.
Cheers

Thanks for the help, and the market place one or the eco one would have been perfect. However I’ve managed to make one from my old pump. I cut it off from the housing thinking I could use a 3”-2” flexi coupling to a varipump only to find the larger housing is a mould over a 2” connector so cut that off and a nice simple 2”-2” into the new pump.
