Rare Recommendation
I don’t often post reviews here unless it’s responding to someone else’s thread, and I know it can get a bit salesy however just this once I’m going to mention Gaz from Aurora.
Bear in mind that he’s 70 miles up the road from me and I’ve only bought a couple of fish from him so far he very kindly trekked down to help me do a gill scrape. I knew I had something going on and had scraped a few over recent couple of months without finding anything. Had assumed it was largely NPS and poor parameters, now those were under control a second opinion was needed not least because after being at this pond build etc for the best part of two years it does sometimes get on top of you.. Sometimes a second opinion allows a slightly different answer to emerge or just set your mind at rest, both hugely valuable.
Anywhere ignoring the guys enthusiasm for getting me out of bed for 7.30 on a weekend it was a hugely helpful visit. I won’t talk money but it was very reasonable particularly bearing in mind he was with me for a couple of hours plus at least the same again travelling.
Interestingly found some Trich and discovered that they were easy to see on his scope but a lot harder on mine, and that was when I knew they were there and what I was looking for.! Given I have an Apex (albeit old) I suspect part of the problem is my eyesight going, either way a new scope is needed.
So to close a much appreciated service being offered that I would thoroughly recommend

Hi David,
Thank you for your kind review and apologies for being your alarm clock (I made sure I did not miss the ‘l’ there)...
I enjoyed the visit and was delighted to have assisted you.
Hope to see you again soon.
Cheers

Some well deserved praise I'm still researching the cloning process as I'd like a @Gazkoi down South
Re the Apex, if budget and set up allows, might be worth trying a USB camera to use with your scope so you are viewing on a PC or Laptop as opposed to looking through the eyepiece. My eyesight is very bad now as my op for cataracts is indefinitely suspended (thanks COVID) so I can't look down the eyepiece at all as light just reflects off the cataracts. It's like looking through broken safety glass!
Other benefit is that you'll be able to photograph and video your scrapes to share on here for 2nd opinions

Lol Wain,
Like many other members on here I am no ‘expert’ but just have a rapidly growing level of experience due to my small koi business and hobbiest endeavours. I am genuinely happy to help whoever I physically can (be that on here, in person or by phone) and share my experiences / give my opinion wherever possible.
This forum has been a great find where I have made many new contacts and friends in the world of Koi. There are plenty of threads and responses on here that I have learned things from, which I am highly appreciative of, so just looking to play my part back in reciprocation.
I see koi keeping as ‘us’ vs nature so the more experiences (good and bad) that we can pool together, the more chance we have of becoming successful keepers and reduce throwing hard earned money down the drain, developing grey hairs and wrinkles, having sleepless nights, bouts of Tourette’s, making ‘bad’ decisions and keep our beloved koi thriving.
Cheers

I second that, Gaz has been a welcome aid to my pond build. Even though we're a long distance customer, Gaz has done his best to sort things out for me promptly to keep me moving along. Even got me embroiled in some grow and show malarky for my empty pond! That and sending me a regular stream of fish to buy when I'm finally ready!
He's useless at getting hold of Spindrifter's in the middle of a pandemic though!Last edited by GadgetBazza; 28-10-2020 at 12:54 AM.

Always best to get spindrifters from retailers who pretend to have them in stock in my experience
cheers
