For basic stuff you could also try TLC direct as they are an online electrical wholesalers with a few shops dotted around the country plus they will deliver too. They are quite helpful so maybe worth giving them a call as well.

Hey Frim, I just had a look over there myself. Can't see anything that goes above 16A per channel. So I think might make sense to go with a cheaper unit (as they can get well over £100), to drive a higher rated contactor / relay. Since you're qualified and I'm not, what do you think?

I'm guessing you mean time clocks Baz?
If so then all you need is something that gives you the number of switching times per day or week etc and is a reliable make although these days what is a reliable make If it's only switching a coil on and off then you don't need to go for anything too higher wattage or ampage so maybe go for a timer that can switch 4 amps or 1000 watts. Could go smaller but maybe harder to find anything? then you'll need a contactor with a 240 volt coil that can handle the load you are trying to put through it with a bit to spare. I have used IMO contactors in the past as they are easy to wire up and you can get various different rating and overloads for them too plus they usually come in a decent enclosure with external stop start buttons on them if required.
If you can give me the full spec of the thing it's going to be running I'll see if I can find the one you need OK.

Just be a bit careful with over rating safety equipment like fuses, MCBs and RCBOs etc and always make sure your cables can take at least the rated current of the fuse, MCB or RCBO controlling it or you might cook the cable before blowing the fuse or tripping the MCB or RCBO.
Fuses, MCB and RCBOs are designed to protect the cable primarily and not what the cable is feeding as that is what's going to cause a problem more often than not.

Yeah exactly that Frim... There are more basic Din rail timers than the one you linked I think, something like the item below should do, just a very basic timer with low load capability to drive the contactor. Ultimately it depends on how much flexibility in the timer the original poster wants...

Wow 6kw!
I'd seriously think about getting an ashp or gas boiler.
1kw cost me £400 last year and I've insulated the crap out of the pond and filters.
How much does your 6kw cost to run a year?!
Going to hook mine up to the central heating next year.
When i rebuild the pond.

I made that mistake Dave lol I think from memory ASHP ratings are the actual heat output they deliver and not the actual current they draw so that's why they are classed as energy efficient. I've not had much to do with them and only had to run a supply for one last year and just went with the recommended supply for it which wasn't anywhere near as big as I initially expected. I think it has something to do with the temperature differences that makes them produce heat but they can only make upto something like 50 degrees C then you need a 3 kw? Immersion heater type thing to get you up to 60 + degrees C for your central heating system etc so for heating a pond they make better sense if I've understood them correctly?

GMT needs to be banned!
only reason we still have it is because scottish kids would be walking to school in the dark.
they have thier own parliament so can set whatever time zone they like...
we are GMT denier's in our house.
we set the clocks back same as everyone else
and then get up and go to bed an hour earlier

doesn't sound as bad as the 'new' direct electric powered combi boilers...21kw!!!
https://www.screwfix.com/p/strom-sbt...i-boiler/663hr
21kw that would cost £3.15 an hour to run for me, or even if only 'on' for half the time £30 a day!
that could cost me £5000 in electric to heat my house for 6 months!!!
