In the past I bought various feeders, which mostly ended up in the bin- broken or blocking with mouldy food due to poor design.

The Profi feeder, and cheaper x-clear ‘copy’ of it have been on a whole different level.
If you want to specify the actual time of each feed (e.g. if you want to coordinate it with the timer on an air pump, or watch the feed at set times) then the X-clear is actually better. If you want to set a certain amount of feed and have it automatically divided up by the number of feeds you select over 24h the Profi is best. It can even increase the feed amount by a set % per week for you if using on a grow on.

If your QT is in a relatively dry indoor environment though you obviously have more options.

I'll be looking for a better one for the pond itself, that can wait for a minute though, looks like I'll be off next week, so hopefully shift myself and get a lot of stuff done, had plans to paint the wood I've got in garge with sadolin classic after work today, but it was to damp here for it to dry

Just looked up them both and the Aqua Forte, probably go for the X Clear for pond and see how it goes, the Profi is really expensive

didnt the x clear become the aquaforte or visa versa? i have one of them in the garage, it was on the main pond but found that the fish were damaging themselves more when using that, dont know if it was becaus it was dropping food close to the sides but i did make a bracket that hung over as much as possible, i was feeding every cpl of hours and they was going nuts when it was going off, i watched them from indoors and it would go off and they would all swim as fast as they could over to the food creating a tidal wave ive gone back to the EA machine gun to spray the food over the pond

Do they hand feed now,? my thoughts are that they could become tamer and be easier to hand feed if they get used to feeding in one area.

they have pretty much always hand fed, Im 50%go sanke and 50% chagoi and karashigoi so they hand feed out of nessesity rather than anything else otherwise they miss out !

    Auto feeder

I think your feeder will be ok and work but what I find with these types of feeders is you donít have a great deal of control over portions and it could likely over feed a grow on.

I have just taken delivery today of the Aqua forte

I did think about the profi but this was £100 cheaper and I like that you have more flexibility with it over the profi.

As in I can set 24 individual feeds a day at various feed rates.

With a profi you just set a start and end time and how long you want to feed in total it will then just set itís own schedule.

I plan to feed hourly earlier and later in the day but every 30 mins between 9:00 and 16:00 I can set each feed between 1 > 600 seconds.

I think it would benefit for a bit longer mount but you can always make a bracket yourself.

I am currently testing mine with a 5mm/2mm and fry feed mix. It seems to be working well and daily weights are consistent.

I agree it does and £60 cheaper. I was not able to find reviews on it though so I went for the AF for that reason.
