Double good news
As some of you will know, I was struggling with poor health of fish and losing them for various reasons with no clue to the root cause which involved a drain down, deep clean and re filling of the pond. a month and a half on and I have got no issues but incredibly greedy and happy koi which are looking bigger every day and showing no signs of issues, no flicking or flashing just barging into each other to steal all the food!Water tests have been excellent too so all appears to be well going into autumn.
The other good news is the reason I am typing this one handed, my other arm is holding my beautiful baby girl, Sierra Rose, who was born Monday the 21st of September weighing 6lb 12oz and a half at 9:41am. Both Sierra and Mum are doing great and I couldn't be prouder. Roll on spring for a trip to the koi shop where Sierra points roughly in the direction of a few big pricey koi which of course I would be a bad dad if I didn't purchase for her

Congratulations for both your healthy scale-babies and your new nipper . Let's hope she has a really good eye for koi as I think that's the best excuse I've ever heard for buying a new one.
"....but honey, you can't disappoint the baby"
Nowadays, I have to use 'negotiation' to justify new pets based on hubs wanting another motorbike (cos one butt needs three bikes doesn't it), or anther shotgun (cos different clays require a variety of cartridges). Yup his excuses to add to his 'man-toy' collection are varied and imaginative. He's just lucky that I actually share his passion for bikes and clay shoots, but I'm still waiting for my pony, puppy, chickens, more kitties ... and of course one or two more koi Clearly need to bush up my negotiation skills!
Best wishes to mum and bambino,
Wendy

Congratulations on the new arrival mate and I wish you a couple of nights a week with some sleep. Also pleased your other babies are now doing well in their new home.
I know how stressful bedding in new ponds can be

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
