Question Quarantine Tank - Cleaning for Storage (Tons of Algae)

I've had my quarantine tank outside for much longer than intended after I moved house. It's now absolutely full of algae and I'm wondering if there's a recommended method to get it killed / removed before I put it away for storage.

Tank is one of these, made out of PVC: https://www.showkoi.co.uk/product/1-...-high-koi-vat/

I know certain chemicals will deal with algae quite effectively, but I'm worried about potentially damaging the PVC or leaving some remnants of the chemical behind that might potentially harm quarantined fish in the future. Any suggestions?

Once this is done I was going to fill the pond with water and treat with Virkon Aquatic to deal with anything that might still be in there.

Is the vat still full of water?

Can dose a chlorine tablet (like for hot tubs), give it about a week and the algae will be dead. Empty, scrub down with a rinse then vac out?

Yes, it still has water in it. I assume chlorine tablets wouldn't damage the PVC then?

If you had some Aquasource Resolve you could use that at a double or triple strength dose as that's not going to cause any issues, just keep the water circulating for a few days and then once it's killed of the algae empty the system and if required hose it all down. That's assuming it kills algae as well as blanket weed which it probably does as they are virtually the same thing?

No, the pvc will be fine, given they make swimming pools out of the same grade (you have bought a swimming pool with the koi name attached to it).

Yeah, just minus the potentially toxic additive they put on the pools, as far as I understand it.

Our Intex pool went like this.

I had a bag of CT lying around and threw a handful in. A few days later it was spotless.

After draining it I went round out with the jet wash and it came up as good as new.

Cover it. Zero light, zero algae. All natural.
No chemicals. Powerhose after a week. Then dry.
