I can’t think of any major cons. suppose you have to add up the cost of a new drum system and changing everything v lobbing a draco in.
I got my nexus 210 initially and then picked up a draco + 220 on here from koiz. Easily takes out the bad stuff before it can do any damage. A nexus on its own isn’t really going to deal with fines. The way I look at it is all that crap entering the nexus and just getting trapped, that’s never going to be a “clean” system it can’t possibly be. The draco removes it before it can fester.
My 220 has 150 litres of K1 so plenty for the smaller pond and it would take more.
The only issue I’ve had is if any K1 gets into the draco it can lodge into the float switch. This has happened a couple of times so you need to get the levels Bob on with the outer nexus chamber. The foul pipe is also a dreadful design yet somehow works without leaking.
Overall I wouldn’t be swapping mine for a different set up, highly recommended. Draco also are excellent for customer service and supplying parts, mist drum manufactures are probably not.Fibreglassed/5000 gals/4.5 m Tunnel/Spindrifter/Twin drums/Bio chambers/Beads/Showers/Remora ASHP

Well that’s a really good positive response are they easy to maintain ,I’ve got 100 ltr of k1 in , struggling with nitrite at min. but that’s another story lol , so that’s the way forward I was looking at a stand alone one but not at the right price

I doubt you’ll here anything bad about the draco units on here. Most are very pleased with them. As it stands I have no maintenance really. There isn’t anything to do, unless there’s a malfunction when any drum system then becomes very problematic.
Regarding the K1 If I drain the nexus 220 down 150 litres of K1 only fills it one third full. So why couldn’t I put 200 litres in? Other than the advise of Ea (who lets face it are clueless) I’m going to try adding 50 litres more. The new K+ seems to mature in a fraction of the time of the old K1 too. When EA advise less K1 to improve biological filtration to me that makes zero sense.
But the more ponds you see I think the more you realise it’s about the pond eco system as a whole as opposed to the amount of media, and then varying it with say a Bakki shower with different media.Fibreglassed/5000 gals/4.5 m Tunnel/Spindrifter/Twin drums/Bio chambers/Beads/Showers/Remora ASHP

since I got my Draco drop in the difference in water quality and fish health is amazing but the main thing is you can just watch the fish now. No more cleaning routines. Still havent got used to that yet in the back of my mind I'm always thinking next week get the karcher out ha ha
good luck mate

Nothing lasts forever lol. Everything brakes down sometime. Even planes trains and automobiles. So rotary drums are no exception. There service is 2nd to none lol.
I needed a inlet seal 48 hours later it was here. And I broke the inlet seal myself.

true, but with careful consideration during manufacturing process many things nowaday last much longer than say 30 years ago.
i to can do refurbs/repairs and supply spares not within 48 hrs as im not established yet in the trade, but everything sourced is run of the mill products readily available some items are specially made by me , which i can make on the spot if need be.
but ive put alot of work into design phase so that a break down would be a very rare event.
my reputation for building solid long lasting units is very important to me.
inlet seal shouldnt break lol unless you cut it with a stanley knife lol can't foresee myself ever damaging my inlet seal . what were you doing ?Last edited by markini5; 20-09-2020 at 04:43 PM.

I had the drum out for a pressure wash clean. And when I hit the seal I damaged the seal. I should have had the pressure washer on fan spray. But I had it on very high pressure.
My fault. I still have that drum. Had it running for 5 1/2 years. And I can put it back in the nexus right now if I wanted.
It's there as a back up. So for me I think its tried and tested. And proved its self.
I hope you sell your drums lol. And hope you do well with selling of them.
Good luck with it

thanks, i will instruct only hose pipe with sponge clean only you must of put the nozzle right up close to the seal , from approx 45cm away it would be ok on my drum to use a jet washer but as above will only recommend hose pipe and sponge
no orders and no more interest for nearly a week.
bit demoralising because i believe i have a good product here and massively cheaper. someone said here that if they knew id did them when they splashed £4600 on a profi combi which i could of built for less than £2000 all in.
well if i do get this moving in time i will increase warranty to 3 years
mines been in 2 weeks now, running perfectly still .
thanks for the kind words Fred.
