dechlorination
I need advice on the two outer ponds we are filling with water aprox 74000 gallons .
they will not be filled high enough to flow into the middle pond yet so will not be circulating through the filters.
thanks to Gaskoi for your help and assistance,Tom is coming tomorrow to assess the state of the fish in the center pond which is 30000 gallons, before they can be moved to the outer ponds.
the third pond has to be drained and cleaned before the complete system can be run.
all three ponds will need to be dechlorinated along with 34 4ftx3ftx2ft deep continuous vegetal pods.
Can ST be used if the water is not being circulated through the filter

That looks like a birds eye view of Centre Parcs, rather than someone's house lol.
ST crystals go a long way. I reckon ST will be a cheap and easy way to dechlorinate each pond once you've filled them up.

Thanks for that Twhitenosugar
It took him and his father over twenty years to complete on a part time basis and most of the materials were reclaimed from everywhere.
they own a demoltion company
the view does not do it justice it is an amazing property.

Good on them.
I love it when people think big and try and realise their dreams. Its so easy to think of stuff you'd like to do or achieve but then don't do anything about it.
I think that's one reason why i love this forum. People realising their dreams and building amazing ponds.
Hope you are able to manage the ponds for your neighbours. Would be a shame to have to get rid of them.

He is not getting rid of them quite the opposite just spent tens of thousands on new fiberglassing and a bit of remodeling on the waterfalls feeding the center pond under the to bridges.
I am repairing his vegi pods so we can get them filled with plants and watercress which is a monumental task as they are the complete length of all three ponds.
difficult to see on the photo but they run in a arc on the ouside of the ponds 17 feeding the left pond 17 feeding the right pond the filter house is in the center gravity fed and pumped up to both sets of pods which then feed to the red domes at each end and cascade down waterfalls into the outer ponds a beautiful simple setup just using one large pump feeding the two rows of pods.
while all this is happening i am not working on finishing the windmill to get it to generate power for the pond electrics and outside lighting

Yeah I've just gone and looked at mine then looked at the big hammer in the shed . My puddle isn't even a bucket next to that thing . Hate to think i had to treat fluke or some it tho the price would definitely bring a to my eyes och

Morning Freddyboy
yes mate the property sits on the highest point in wednesbury 180 meters above sea level and he has a massive viewing gallery tha overlooks the canter pond and clear views as far as you can see.
birmingham is 15 miles away and one can see the skyline quite clearly

Morning Ajm
I look at my 5000 gallons pond and think the same. I would imagine most Koi keeper's can ony dream of such a setup
I am a complete novice at koi keeping and have called in an expert thanks to Gaskoi ,as the center pond has been neglected since the owners father passed away and some if not all have parasite or bacterial infections
If its that bad some of the fish may have to be culled ,but i hope we can save at least the two meter long grass carp. As big as they are they look like small tiddlers swimming around

Hi Letimgo
I am just walking around to his house i will take some photo's of the pond and the fish but the water they are in is polluted.
we had the expert around this morning to get a plan of action in place
we advised the owner that all the 34 vegi pods need fully cleaning and repaired and modified with baffles to get the water to flow up and down four times in each pod
and then to chage the four 1.5HP outdated swimming pool pumps with 4x30000 vari pumps and increase the pipework to 2in or 3in
theres many hours work ahead and working to complete the windmill to generate some power on top LOL

Evening Letimgo and Ajm
just a few pics to show the work to be done
the pic with the well in view is actualy a large sediment tank fed by the 6in bottom drain from there it enters the filter house and returned to the pond through two banks of 17 pods and enters out of the two red domes which also have a large sediment tank at the outer end of the outer ponds

That's a huge project, I would love to be involved in restoring these incredible ponds but don't have deep enough pockets to maintain them
Would be great to see some progress photos.
