Yes ball valves are bad enough in 4" but a 4" gate valve is probably 2 or 3 times the price of that

I was after a 3" pressure pipe 45 degree T and found no one sold a 3" but you could get a 90mm metric one but that was between £150 & £200

So I kicked that into touch & gave up on that idea

I wanted to use it on my bypass overflow for the outlet of the Eazy Pod and then fit a 45 bend on the spur to run parallel with the 3" pipe to give less flow restrictions and a tidier look to the overflow system. But I think I'll live with the more rustic cheaper look for now lol

I've just seen one advertised for £100 but even that's a bit OTT for what's basically a bent T lol

Exactly so you can get the best of both worlds by knocking out the plastic insert between the inflow chamber & the outflow chamber. This way the drum gets the treatment which then passes through unhindered to the rest of the filter system

the only reason I will have a bypass on the drum is

    (1) to work on the drum or to remove it whilst still keeping the flow through to the separate bio chamber

    (2) to bypass the bio chamber of some of the high flow through the drum (2x 4” inputs) By taking 1 of the 2x 4” outputs elsewhere & only 1 into the bio chamber to slow the passage through the bio chamber

well I can’t speak for all drums but my Filtreau High Flow 30 (drum only) has two pliable inserts (a bit like core plugs in a car engine) that can be pulled out if the drum mechanism stops working to allow water still to flow which helps to bypass the mesh. I haven’t looked in detail at the Filtreau Combi unit For the new pond which has the additional 350ltr Bio chamber attached ( it’s still all in its packaging)

What I did find yesterday on the inter web was
Some metric pressure pipe Y joints
    In 63mm &50mm @. £13 & £10each
so I have taken a punt & ordered 1 of each that I can use inserts like in my check valves to adapt to 1.5” & 2””
    7F64E823-CC17-4729-9FCA-141FF6DE472C.jpeg

The size name of the filing denotes the size of pipe which the fitting takes. eg. 50mm Wye takes a pipe with an outside diameter of 50mm and so on.

    also available in 75mm

When I asked Manky Sanke via a PM he said for my UVC it wouldn't make any difference where the spurs from the Ts were facing, could be side by side or one above the other either way so would guess that the heater would be the same?

He's currently online so why not PM him and ask the question or ask him to have a look on this thread?

    Thanks, have sent a message.

Do you know if you can use rubber connections on 43mm black solvent weld pipe?

You need to get the right sized flexi rubber boot fittings for that size pipe which may need to be metric not imperial sized ones. I got a 40mm flexi rubber boot coupler and a couple of metric sized reducers and end caps from Ebay. Just get an accurate measurement on the OD of the pipe and see what fits as sometimes you can get the nearest sized imperial ones to fit something that's a couple of mm too big or too small if the metric version isn't available.

I normally look on the Fernco website if you need strange sizes then see who in the UK sells that fitting. Raptor Supplies sell Fernco but if you want them quickly you have to pay for delivery. Free delivery is at least a 2 week wait as the bits I ordered from them 2 weeks ago still haven't been delivered yet.

I've just fitted an EA 3" flexi rubber boot coupler over the outlet of a 3" slide valve so they are quite stretchy compared to other makes if you don't want to pay Fernco prices and they do something the correct size for you?
