Hi Feline, do you run your supply for the top up through the large blue cylinder declorinator first then through a three pod? I am trying to work out what to do on my supply for the top up tank to compensate for the drum cleans.
Just curious as to why you have both if the first cylinder deals with the chlorines? I have been told I have chloramine in my supply so I want something to deal with that especially after all the trouble people have been having and trusting the water company. Will take my tin foil hat off and go back and hide in the corner now

Yes if you want to use ST instead of dechlorinator pods/ big blue units then you need to make sure there is always enough ST in the water before you add the tap water. That’s where the problem lies really. Even if you do test the tap water chlorine/amine level and do a clever calculation for how much ST per day you need to add, that doesn’t allow for water companies messing with the supply in hot weather etc.
ST is pretty safe in ‘overdose’. But if you ever need to treat your pond with PP and you’ve been adding excesses of ST to it for months on end you will have to add the mother load of PP to get to the right redox reading2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Thanks for the recommendation, I will give them a call. Just looking at their website on the big blue cylinders with a pre filter. Some have catalytic carbon? To deal with chloramines.
Trying to do some research while at work on my phone but struggling to find info on catalytic carbon and it’s benefits over standard carbon.

I go looking for info re a replacement for EA dechlorinator which does not really work at even at a trickle , before we even get to Nexus flush and I find this.answer and chart.
Have Prime for the indoor tanks but need to scale up.

I have a big blue and very happy with it, £100 odd to refill with carbon and probably need to do it once a year on my current rates

Thanks for the info, I will probably give it a go. Just working out if I can accommodate the big 4ft one and will order it from costal koi tomorrow. Dont think they were getting anymore in till some time in October though but I will just use ST for now until I can get the big blue plumbed into my top up tank.
