topping up hose pipe, surface or sunken ?

sounds a bit mad but sure i can recall a discussion about this and there is a preferred way when topping up your pond, should you sink your hose pipe or let scatter the surface when refilling ? as i say sure i can recall something about this but maybe going mad

In the current situation with what could possibly be getting added to the water supply you would be much better topping up via a reliable dechlorinator filter or using ST or a tap water conditioner possibly?

Hi FKK - I use ST whenever topping up...

That's good to hear. I've heard of a few people just using the hose and thinking it is OK to just use the sprinkler setting on the gun to remove all the chlorine etc.

Yeah, unless ur one of those people who believes they can 'gas off' chlorine (and chloramine which cannot even be a gas) by using a sprinkler rose water setting on their hose, then there is no benefit to adding water at the surface in preference to any other route.
Probably the only exception to this is in an emergency power-cut situation where oxygen is reaching critically low levels in the water and adding a dechlorinated sprinkle of water to the surface might slightly help until air pumps are working again.
