My water is very soft, so I add the bicarb ( aldi) 59p. 200g. To increase my kH, tap is nearly carbonate free. Good for the kettle bad for my filter bugs.

Good to hear its improoving paul.
    Chuffed for you lol.
Has anyone tried to test. With this fix.
    If you stop adding it.
Does the nitrite rise back up. Or once
    Treated it stays zero.

I've stopped using Envirex now since mid last week.
I'm still on zero ammonia zero nitrite.
Trace phosphate and a low but reassuring nitrate.
I'm feeding 5 egg cups of EA and Causeway Koi own brand growth foods mixed.
Not very scientific but I'm happy
Pond at 21 degrees they are still climbing out for food, chagoi and matsubas would pull the finger of you. ( no pull my finger jokes pleaseNitrite)

That's good to know mate. So it won t cost an arm and a leg. If you have to keep adding the stuff. To keep water parameters
    At zero.
Nice to know that people with new ponds and NPS has something to combat the water parameters . Brill.

I too have suffered NPS with an initial ammonia spike then a more prolonged time of high nitrites ranging from 2.0 and 1.0.
I can recommend the new k+ media as within a week of adding an additional 30 litres to my nexus nitrites came down to 0.25 and have now stabilised at 0.1.
May have just been coincidence in timings but I think EA have definitely improved it's ability to mature much quicker than standard k1

200 g bicarb a week. Envirex every time nexus cleans every 2 days just generous spoonful now. Readings spot on.
    Clean EA bead fortnightly.

tbh I would use that product to help fluculate particles to clear the water, but I wouldn’t expect it to do anything to ammonia and nitrite readings.

The only reason I got it was hoping to help mature filter quicker and lowering nitrite

Which is a reasonable expectation given that the LFH website states:

"Envirex was created to make ponds far more hygienic and less chance of disease developing in the fish. Envirex degrades all types of solid waste matter whilst lowering ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate and other unwanted substances in pond water. The product can help to reduce the amount of filter cleaning, pond vacuuming and general maintenance. Envirex is a natural product and cannot kill blanket weed or algae like a chemical but it can inhibit its growth but this requires regular use."

The trouble is it doesn't state how long the product may take to bring about these changes, the conditions that may effect it's action, nor in what way it works. We're back to the Qs I was raising earlier in this thread! The fact that many users report a rapid lowering of Ammonia and / or Nitrite is why we are all waiting with baited breath for these results (and I for one am very grateful for you sharing your experience with us Nitrite).

I'm particularly interested that this product supposedly has a flocculating action - although that is not stated on the website. Paul have you seen any evidence of that in your water?

I think itís a clay based product, as I think Iíve said elsewhere.

What it doesnít state is how it can reduce ammonia and nitrite etc. If it does this by helping to reduce build up of organic solids on the pond floor, then itís the wrong product for a nitrite spike in an otherwise clean pond system. I would see it as more of a long-term effect type product, and even then in a plant-less koi pond with good mechanical filtration it may have little or no effect.
