Hang in there mate
I have had awful problems too this year.Even started my own post about all the unexplained fish deaths I had. Then I relised I wasn't alone as other people having exact same problems. I'm on board with this something in the water theory. Perhaps there has been some pipes shut down or they have not done something they normally do due to covid .
I am interested in the copper theory as my paper cartridge turns brown very quickly now say 4k litres compared to when I could get say.. 12k litre through it .
This year for me now is a write off no more fish - dont see the point had my heart broke too many times this year. Didnt get any money for lockdown as I m self employed , sold loads of stuff on ebay to buy some fish to cheer me up and then this.
All the best mate - keep going you said you still have some of your old ones .!!
I still got my Chag and my first Kohaku I got so I'm happy I still have my favorites there. Sounds corny but just have a look and think about what you have not what you've lost.
All the best mate

Cheers Jim.Hope things improve. Same as you, no work or income for months. I'm a musician and guitar tech. No gigs but I'm starting to get instruments in for repair/modifications again.
Just had my lunch break and sat watching the fish and thinking about where and when I had got them, realised that an old ghostie has been with us since 1985, thirty five years Also I can remember stopping to buy a lovely Ogon, left my wife in the car whilst I went in and collected it, when I got back, she was starting to go into labour. Whizzed back home with the fish and then onto the hospital, that was 1988. Like you said, think about what I've got.

That really put a smile on my face I'm in the 'parasites from hell' club too since June last year, so I really feel for you. I came very close to wanting to do away with the pond, and truthfully, in all the years I've been with my hubby - it was the first time we actually had a proper shouting match - all caused from the stress and cost of never ending koi problems month after month. The input and support I got from this forum really helped to pull me through it.
I'm still watching mine like a hawk on and off all day, just dreading something going wrong again. I'm too scared to add any more fish to my pond now, as all my problems started with new fish too. I'm just hoping I can get to the point where my Koi are happy and healthy enough to breed ... then I'll just try to raise my own babies! Really hope things turn around for you. Ps
Just done a big Virkon dose for this reason. Reckon I finally got ride of everything but wanted to be sure as I saw beginnings of cotton wool and redness on some fish. I have dosed my pond more since march than I have in 12 years put together!!! with a bigger pond and less fish and better filters. Madness!!!Last edited by JimJones; 04-08-2020 at 11:16 AM. No it's not been good mate. Can't imagine playing any gigs this year. On the plus side more time to enjoy the pond if the fish stop dying.
No more fatalities since Saturday night and the remaining five are feeding well.
Good to hear that you've got some work on.

No more fish deaths since Saturday night but noticed this morning, that my lovely Ogon (the one purchased then night before the birth of my youngest, 32 years back) was just lying on the bottom with fins clamped and not coming up for a feed with the others. Anyway, just netted him out and carried out a scrape. No evidence of parasites and strangely, he's now up and feeding

I had a shock this morning when I went out to feed the fish as I saw the Platinum Ogons with a couple of rows of blue or green scales down it's back (well it was sold to me as a Platinum Ogon ) up at the surface on it's side As I walked up to the edge of the pond it started to move and fortunately it was just eating the blanket weed off the side of the pond at a strange angle!!!
