Feeling stressed.
After my positive post last night, it's all gone pear shaped again this morning. Two more dead, one of the ones that I scrapped last night and the other, a little doitsu kujaku.
In thirty something years of koi keeping, I've never encountered so many problems.
All I've got left is one of the five tosai bought from Avenue back in May and four old fish.

Sorry to hear of your loss mate. Gutted for you.
There has been a lot of fish loss this year.
I have lost 3 fish myself. I am getting more and more convinced something is being added to the water. And councils are not telling us. And staying quite.
Because of this virus. COVID-19
Fish ain't dieing this quickly because of flukes
And other parasites. Keep your chin up mate.

Cheers Fred. It does seem strange doesn't it. I don't know what to do from here on in. First off I need to do a partial water change today as it's seven days since I dosed with Flukesol.
Planning ahead though, I don't know whether to carry on or call it a day. Even if I feel confident buying new fish, the fact that I earnt nowt from mid march until about
a week ago makes it difficult

mmm sorry to hear this mate, i do not know what is happening, very weird as Freddy says, i have lost a mizou ogon and my new showa is looking poorly now as well, something is going on, i think a lot of it regarding new fish purchases was the uncertainty in shipping, a lot of fish were starved for weeks and left in Japan as they could not be shipped out due to the virus, dealers fish arrived in a state and were very weak and still are imho and some just have no immunity at all...... i know of two dealers who are not selling some of their fish as they are just not fit to sell because of this.......they are going to take a couple on months at least to strengthen.etc.

Oh boys, this is sad news has anyone sent their water off for an ICP Lab test? I’m pals with Vincent who runs the Triton lab and he tested his water when he set his pond up - copper was very high, which is harmful to fish. He’s since fitted a huge carbon filter and a Di Resin canister and is now copper free - I’ve purchased a huge Di resin chamber to go alongside my Big Blue ready for when I fill mine.

Sit back for a while mate. And have a good think on it. Over a week. I know times are hard. Don t make a hasty decision.
30 years is a long time. That's roughly how long I have been keeping fish. I nearly packed in a couple of months ago. With that costia. What I put the fish through was murder. Broke my heart. But theres always light at the end of the tunnel lol.
Keep your chin up. Mate

Sorry to hear about your problems.
As already said, don't make any decisions just yet. Sometimes just doing nothing allows things to settle back down as the more you mess with things the more you can stress the fish which can be counter productive.
I'm not a big believer in constantly netting and scrapping koi unless you have definite problems due to the stress you put on the koi in the process.

What a bummer g mac, i think i would sit on me hands for now, and maybe leave getting anymore fish
until next year, and just see what happens with the ones that are left, a bit of wait and watch and see what
happens And there is absolutely nothing leeching into the pond, get on ok with the neighbours just asking

It is awfully strange. I have had my issues which are highlighted on here and my pond is brand new as of December but I lost fish starting around march time or so, they just seemed to randomly start getting ill and dying within a couple of days with no signs of issues, water tests fine etc. I am draining my pond and moving into a paddling pool whilst I deep clean the pond and check the fibreglass for any bits that might not have gone off although I am sure thats fine. But I lost fish within a couple of months of the pond running and was only feeding tiny amounts at that point when the temp was up and it was enough that it was gone within a minute. I have kept carp for years and I know they are more hardy but it seems exceptionally strange for fish to just die so quickly with little to no visual issues. By the way any tips on getting brown algae off the sides of ponds anyone?

I am absolutely convinced that something is being added to the water which the public are not being told about, for the last 15 years I have been growing my own vegetables, like all other years I germinated all the seeds indoor, but this year the leaves on most of the plants shrivelled up and the plants either died or deformed, hearing from other people with same issues, definately something in the water.
Really sorry to hear about your loss, chin up shoulders in and chest out, we are one, we are the water keepers and nothing will beat us.
The tide will always come in and go out, what's important is how we deal with the stuff it leaves behind.
