pond floor
Hi all
my bottom drain came off this morning so I had to drain the pond so it was shallow enough for me to get in with waders... when I climbed into the pond my fibreglass pond was like walking on a water bed...all the fibreglass was like jelly.
Is this normal ?
Thanks

You sure that wasn’t a layer of algae or bacteria slime? Was it hard underneath that jelly like layer?

it could be a bad case of blanket weed and algae as said...... stick your hand down through it you should hit a hard base at some point being your actual FBG floor ? should not be that deep though ?? is your pond on a concrete bed ?

Don't sound right to me can you not see down to the bottom of your pond floor to see if you have algae / build up
of mulm, hope it is that and nothing else.

Unless u have water ingress behind your fibreglass causing it to float

Hi... Thanks for reply, Its deffo water between the fibreglass and the concrete floor... when I drained it and walked on it I was like wtf, I stuck my hand and pressed the floor and I could push it up and down... I just spoke to dave Arnold & told him & he said it sound like groundwater has got between the glass.

Would’ve thought the weight of the water you had still in the pond would have forced the groundwater out?

As the pond at any point been fully empty did the pond have a water table problem when the fibreglassing was done originally
