EKF Grow & Show main thread

MAIN GROW AND SHOW THREAD FROM HEREIN.

    Hi.

So we had 15 forum members join which was brill. Selection and draw now done and Showa will be collected / couriered over following week. We have organised everything via WhatsApp but will update / share progress via this thread over the coming year.

    We had a great result.
    - 8 members got their first choice Showa.
    - 2 members got their second choice Showa.
    - 2 members got their third choice Showa.
    - 1 member got their fifth choice Showa.
    - 1 member got their sixth choice Showa.
    - 1 member got their seventh choice Showa.

    ....... out of 20 Showa.

Brill job by Gaz from Aurora Koi.

Thanks everyone who’s taking part and looks like their is plenty of interest to do this again next year.

    Ian.

In the spirit of keeping everyone informed I got my first choice which was C from the above choices. Seeing as I was something like 11th or 12th out of the hat and still getting my first choice makes me wonder how good my selection was TBH LOL!!

I thought B was head and shoulders above the others, but I put R as first choice cause of the unusual pattern. Finished up with third choice “O” as I really liked the shape, chunky monkey. Just need some water now

That's a cracking fish you have there - that was my 2nd choice.

The Sumi is so well developed for such a young fish and the sumi in the root of the fins is very well defined too - should develop into a stunner.

What I've realised so far from this competition, is it's really hard to take a photo of the fish without getting a reflection on the waters surface.

Haha yes! I wish I got a decent shot looking down on the fish but I wanted to get a good one for tracking the size.

This was the best I got

I haven't seen much of mine either. Although my wife did see it bravely going for a lone pellet this afternoon and it got butted out the way by a 67cm Ogon. My wife actually thought the Ogon had eaten it. Lol. Still, I give the Showa 10/10 for trying.

I didn't really think too much about their size, as ive not bought Tosai before. But with hindsight I wish I'd set up a grow on tank to give it a better chance of getting to the food. No chance of netting it now. Not unless I drain my pond lol.

Mine races to the top when it sees the others coming up. He’s a bit skittish and seems to only want the pellet others are going for! I’m fortunate that all my koi are young so it’s not the smallest fish in the pond.
