    What a mess.....

Spent most of today scraping blanket weed from the sides and bottom of the pond and spending hours very slowly moving my net through the water column to remove as much weed as possible, trouble is once in the water column the weed begins to break up and is difficult to catch in the net even with a fine mesh, the slower you move the net the better, as you can see from the pics once i had a net full i was then having to jet wash the crap off and start again, whilst i was at it i jet washed the drum, inside the filtration box and the pond sides.....quite surprising how much crap builds up in there, did a big water change as well.

Got some Resolve, Lernex, PP coming from Gazkoi, going forward i will do as others do and that add a half dose in the pond in April and another in July to keep this weed at bay,

have you got a pond vacuum to hoover up the weed?

then just run it through a 100 micron nylon filter sock on the discharge end back into the pond to catch the weed...

Hi DTF - No i do not have a pond vac, after enquiring about one on here most had unfavourable views of them - today would of been very favourable however lol....

Hi RS - no this fence runs along the bottom of the garden and was not upgraded when i did the other two as it was not in too bad a condition as it is protected by my neighbours huge workshop.... this weed smells so bad, i have jet washed it all up behind my shed in the hope it will dry out and stop smelling need some hot weather else my neighbours will start winging lol....

I have been using 2 pearl barley straw bails in a nylon bag in the filter constantly for around 4 years, and put a new one in when one has rotted down and they have been great and I have never needed to use chemicals. I still get a very small amount on the walls but nothing that causes an issue.
