I used to have one easy enough to clean even I managed it cleaning is via an air pump rather than blower make sure you’ve a none return valve between pump and filter richdon koi will email you instructions on cleaning coz it’s that long since I had one wouldn’t want to give wrong advice on cleaning it

    So here's a start

    bio .jpg

    bio 2.jpg

Pipe A going into the pump is from a sieve, and non return valve into filter. pipe B gong into the uv is the outlet. if I remember right all pipes are 2in pressure fit.

The yellow hose I have is from the air pump for cleaning, and the thick black hose is waste outlet from cleaning.

When it comes to cleaning i try and do it once a week only takes 10 mins and its done, hope this helps.

It hasn't been used for a bit and in the instructions up above it tells you to put some water in first and then put the beads in, so I. Gonna take the beads out and pp them , is this a good idea or not ?..

    Hi
do you need the nrv as I have just got one of these filters and looking into it was told it’s not needed just a valve

  21. #13
I was advised to use a nrv by more than one person .

    Hi Scottyp
I am a bit new to these filters I understand what a nrv do but a ball valve sort of do them same just you have to turn it will a nrv work a lot better holding back the pressure or is it better for stopping any broken down beads entering the pump just glad someone else has the same filter as not that common

  23. #15
I'm no expert myself, i thi.nk it's more to be on the safe side i.e if pump fails or power cut ,the nrv would automatically stop the backflow as opposed to you physically turning a valve, they used to be popular filters around our way about 10-12 yrs ago because the dealer who was responsible for them was local but with everything thing else time moves on..

The NRV just stops the air going back through the water pump whilst cleaning, you can use a ball valve in stead you'll just need to remember to close it when you switch the air on, and then open it back up again before switching the water pump back on

Spot on I am so glad that a ball valve will do as this is how I have mine set up might add a nrv later yer just got to remember to turn on/off
Scottyp do yo turn off the return valve when cleaning the bead

The nrv is tamper proof ,it has to be installed the right way around , inside its like a spring loaded gate which let's it flow one way but if flow comes the other way shuts the gate ..
