Ex Draco with a cleaning pump, now Draco with mains wash.

was it a flo jet? i got one from draco this week, its been on for 3 days and every 24 hours the pump stops working? i go out and the drum is rotating and the pump is not running. the only way to restart the pump is dis connect the hose that goes from the pump to the spray bar then it kicks in straight away

Yes it was. It should come on for the duration of the wash, pump and drum work together.
You must have a wiring issue, both drum motor and pump are operated by the float switch. I’d check the wiring in the box on the Draco.

is there a pressure switch? could be sticking?
i'm not sure about drum booster pumps
but most commercial booster sets have them to control pump output pressure.
the switch on my karcher k4 sticks occasionally and i have to de-pressurise the mains and then it kicks in... then it runs just fine...Last edited by davethefish1; 31-05-2020 at 05:11 PM.

I've read about pressure Switches but I have no idea where to start playing about it works every 30 mins roughly for about 24 hours absolutely fine then I'll go out and look and the drum is trying to clean and the pump is not going
Thing is there is no instructions for installation so I just put it on how I thought

No, water level falls, float switch indicates the clean triggering both drum motor and pump/solenoid depending if your mains fed or pressure pump. Even if it has low water so so the float switch is down it will only clean for a few minutes before the system goes into error and shuts down, four minutes iirc.
Is it a new drum, or one you have bought second hand?

Its was mine from new mate, been running it on mains for the last year but my wife was about to file for divorce because our water pressure isn't great so if she was in the shower and the drum went off the shower would stop working and was a pain to reset

Tony just messaged me, he said it sounds like an air lock from the inlet feed

Can she not pop out and see what the level is before she has a shower, if it’s about to clean she could hang on, if it’s just done a clean she needs to get in the shower a bit smart.
it won’t be solenoid with a pressure pump system, it’s an open ended pump that only runs when powered.
if it is an airlock it’s strange how it runs what, four cleans an hour for twenty three hours then air locks, unless by chance the pick up pipe which if it is the one which Draco supplies wants to curl up, they don’t like being straight, is it curling up then and poking out of the water, when the level drops?
make sure the pick up pipe is well down the central section where the clean water is.

The flojet pump is a elf priming pump, and even if the tube was out of the water, it should be running to try and suck up water. I don’t know if it has a cut out that triggers after a period of dry running, but even if it does, a one minute wash cycle shouldn’t be long enough. My Draco came with a wash pump and it ran (noisily), but without issue for more than a year. I switched to mains feed because of the biofilm build up and the noise, but if thIs pump is not working for more than 24hrs, then it must be faulty. If Tony can recommend a solution that fixes the issue then great, but otherwise you should request a replacement pump.

at the bottom of the drum there is a ball valve where the pump connects, its a self priming diaphragm pump so unless the pump is actually pumping no water comes out of the outlet side of the pump. the only way air can get in is via the threads of the connectors of the hose as far as i can see

You’ve lost me with the ball valve at the bottom of the drum?

i think we're having trouble working out how you have connected the booster pump up.
looking at the pic, is it a 24 volt booster pump similar to the kind you get on RO sets?
is the pump connected to the mains or drawing water from the drum?
if you're now drawing water directly from the drum and not boosting the mains water.
i think you need to remove the solenoid valve (circled in blue) as this would quickly get blocked with particles from pond water.
and is that the final fixed position of the pump?
also hard to see from the pic is that a valve circled in red?

It's a 12v flojet pump, if you take the valve off that you circled at the top of the drum its just going to be open all the time so it would be spraying 24/7 surly ? The water feed is from the small drain on the bottom of the clean side, black valve in this picture

yes it will be open all the time, but will only spray when power is applied to the pump,
and the pump should only get power to run when in a wash cycle, like the solenoid.
how have you wired it up?
and just a thought, if it were me, i'd not want to be drawing water from the absolute lowest point of the drum.
even on the clean side doesn't it get small sediment particles collect there?
could it possibly block the cleaning jets?
are there any other places slightly higher up you can draw clean side water from?

All I've done is plugged it in, these no instructions for adding this pump to this drum. The pump comes on a board with its own power supply and plug

is there a socket on the controller for a booster pump, to plug it into?
to be fair i've looked on draco's site and the only reference i could find regarding pressure pump installation.
was either for connection to a nexus, or to ignore the section on mains connection for a solum installation.
if they sell an upgrade part prefabbed onto a board an A4 printed sheet of info on how to install might not be a bad idea...
it should work even with the solenoid connected as long as both run at the same time, though most other drums i've seen with cleanside booster pumps don't use a solenoid...
but if the solenoid is getting blocked that might account for the intermittent running, and clearing as soon as you de-pressurise the pump output?

"Connecting the WaterWater valve operated spray bars, connect your incoming water supply to the valve. In the UK this should be via a standard15mm pipe.
For international, an adaptor will be required and the valve body uses a standard 3/4" BSP female thread.
Optional Pressure Pump the above can be ignored as the water is taken from the “clean” side of the drum."
"The pump has a trailing cable which needs powering from the drum.
Remove the cover of the grey junction box by undoing the 4 corner screws. Insert the wire through the cable gland on the side and wire it into the junction block as shown on the sticker on the inside of the lid.
Positive (red) should go on pin 6 (which has a yellow wire attached to it) and the negative (blue) should be attached to pin 5 (with the black wire attached to it).
Tighten up the gland and replace the lid on the junction box."
probably a quick call to tony would clear up how best to install it...
