    Missing fish returns!

    So doing some lockdown alterations.
A fish that was very elusive seemed to vanish about a year ago. I never found a body but but assuming it rotted or got canibalised.
Wether it's down to the liner being pulled around a bit, water a bit lower than normal??
I put some vitalize into the pond, later that evening I see the missing fish. For a year its avoided me!

    Here's the strange part.
It's the same size as before, around 3"
    Look healthy, but not grown.
It's a ghost koi, I have another bought at the same time, looks nothing like it that ones around 7" now.

That's crazy to have not seen it for a year.

I count mine every day lol.

    Here's a similar story.

My missus bought her parents a water feature in 2009, identical to the one pictured below.

Unbeknown to me they bought 3 shubunkins/Comets and put them in the bottom tier.

The fish just got forgotten about after a few Months, as did the water feature. There were times where the water would evaporate so much the bottom tier would be almost empty and the pump would stop working. They'd eventually get round to topping it up. In the winter the whole thing would freeze solid.

In 2013 her parents split up and sold the house. Just before moving out her Mum rings saying she's just emptied the water feature to throw it out and there's a fish wriggling around on the lawn!

I went round and found a super healthy but stunted looking Calico Comet around 5" long with startlingly bright colouration and full of vigour and health. Took it home and put it into one of my tanks It didn't even know how to eat pellets having lived on mosquito larvae and whatever else had found its way into the water feature over the last 4 years.

Over time her colours faded and I could never get her back into the condition she was in whilst on a live food only diet. She grew in my tank to around a foot long, spawned a couple of times, and eventually died of natural causes in 2018 at around 10 years old.

Here's the Comet in question, you can see the stunted growth by the length of the tail / dorsal compared to the body, but otherwise she made a great pet. Only wish I'd built the Koi pond sooner as she definitely deserved a nice big pond!

Are you sure a family member hasn't replaced to it, to give you a nice surprise, without telling you?

Try calling it and see if answers to the same name!

No it's not been replaced by anyone.

I get it that a small fish that's very nervous could keep out of the way, hide in a crease.
But to not have grown, that's the most strange thing???

Ok, well the most sensible, rational, plausible, logical, believable answer is that there must be an interdimensional time portal somewhere in one of the folds of your liner.

Actually, I'm embarrassed that I didn't consider this earlier, as it's so obviously the correct answer.

It must be the time portal then.

Has anyone else ever had a fish that's not put on any growth in 18 months and seems healthy, as in still alive?
