He got some lovely koi from Ian and all home safely, must be sad for Ian packing up and i wish him all the best in his travels and hope he will keep in touch.

Lovely Koi Stuffy, and John, that's right up my street.
Don't think its a Doitsu Kujaku though, because a Doitsu Kujaku I think is a Shusui.
Throwing guesses around now, but it definitely has Hariwake features, so I first thought Kikusui but probably more likely to be a Doitsu Yamato-nishiki.

On John's koi it has some black within the red and a Sanke stripe on the pec, hence my thinking it is a yamato nishiki, whereas the kujaku will only have black on the doitsu scales and nowhere else.
Could be either but could be neither!

All are nice stuffy.
You're not wasting any time stocking up then .
Any idea who the Showa breeder is?
Shape looks similar to one of mine from Takahashi.

How big are the bigguns stuffy?
I've never bought a big koi before, always wanted to grow them myself, but it takes so long I'm tempted to buy one

I can’t remember the breeder sorry. The larger ones are around 24 inches. All grown from 6-8 inch tiddlers !. It’s great buying small and watching them grow.
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
