It must be the picture then, because I can promise you it’s not textured, and I have no concerns at all about puttting fish in there and rubbing themselves, you are looking at the bottom drain fitted into the hole you said it wouldn’t

Think DiabloDave might be seeing what I saw at first - In the pic it just looks like a hole to the soil below with no bottom drain in.

    You are misquoting me there.

Obviously bad photos because this looks heavily textured to me....

Yes that’s exactly what I see in that first photo - with what appears to be soil at the bottom and a foam -maybe expanding - on the sides of the hole. It certainly doesn’t look like a drain in in there, hence why I was completely confused as to how a drain would fit after the grp!

also very confused as to what the step is around the perimeter? Think that might cause some debris build up as potential dead spots - I always like to see a decent fall on the bottom to encourage good consistent debris flow toward the drain.

I had to put the step round as the person who done it before ken made a right pigs ear of it, I’m very happy with it now which is the most important thing, ken went out of his way to help me and for that I’m very grateful, you more then welcome to have a look and see for yourself, if I had nothing positive to say to anyone I wouldn’t comment to be honest as I say I’m happy with it and that’s all that counts

I’m commenting out of concern, not nitpicking - just concern for the fish if they rub. The substrate Ken had to work with was not a good starting point as you’ve said yourself you thought it would be easy to do but you got it wrong.

Like you said, your pond. Good luck.
