How much a pond is worth ?
Hi,
I've moved in a new house just before the lock down. The house has a large pond with I think about 20+ fishs of which 5 large koi carps, some smaller ones and some goldfish. The previous owner told me that these carps are 20+yrs old. Along with the pond there is also a small aquarium with about 10 baby carps with aquatic plants used as nursing facility.
I personally have no experience looking after the carps, I've been feeding them for the past two months, but with the help of the sun I can see the pond now starting to get algae and I'm not sure I want to spend more time or money looking after the pond.
So I'm thinking about selling the fishes along with the pumps and filters.
Could someone please provide some indication about how much a pond is worth (fishes, pumps, filters) ? Also is there a leading online marketplace where to post an ad ?
I'm attaching some pictures for reference.
Thanks in advance.

Its difficult to see from the pictures what fish you have and the size so it will depend on what people will want to offer, most likely someone starting up a new pond that wants some instant colour, If you turn the pump off for a minute and let the water settle you will get a clearer picture
The main filter looks like a 3 bay cloverleaf, I have seen them for sale anywhere between £36 and £200, new they are about £500
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/cloverlea...wAAOSwBLlU6fL9
The two pressure filters can go for £10 to £80 dependant on make
eBay seems to be the best place for stuff like that, the pressure filters are more for small goldfish ponds than koi ponds
There is a for sale section on the forum4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass
2100 mm x 710 mm Infinity Window 32mm thick glass
2 x Aerated Bottom Drains and Skimmer

Just a note, in case it hasn`t occurred to you.
Please don`t sell (remove the filtration system) until the fish have all gone.
Where abouts are you located BTW?Last edited by RipleyRich; 10-05-2020 at 09:20 AM.

As said, sell the fish then the equipment!
Stick em on seperate listings on flebay and what ever they bring they bring. They're not high value items and niether will be the fish.
Bit of luck you'l get enough money to pay for filling in the pondNot to read a newspaper makes you uninformed. But to read a newspaper makes you misinformed

Don't expect much money for the fish if you can find a fish rescue near you or the classified ads on here at least they will get a good home
i made the mistake of putting some on eBay when I was forced to shut my pond down in the past and I'm certain I sent them to their deaths
as said above filters and pumps will definitely sell on eBay
good luck

If you put your location in you profile that will help people when/if you decide to sell

Apologies for the late reply, but I today I managed to take some pictures.
Thanks for your comments,
I tried to get better pictures with close ups to give you an idea of what's in the pond. I counted at least 25 fish in the big pond there could be more + at least 10 small fish in the nursery.
Out of curiosity, I'd love to know type of fish you can recognize.
Please let me know what you think they are worth. I'd like to give them all away in one go (pond + nursery).. and yes, pumps and filter go last
I'm located in Purley CR8
Many thanks

You’ve got common and mirror carp there, what looks like some ghost carp.
Not too sure what the others might be, some goldfish.
These won’t be worth a great deal.
I might know someone in Coulsden that possibly would take some off you, they have a mature “normal” pond that was ravaged by herons a while back and now they’ve sorted it out a bit better, I can ask if you like?
