    It looked like it was laid on a few odd slabs on the photos.. Guessing game and was wondering. Yeah sourcing materials is going to slow you down.. I think you have done well given the circumstances

    The flags were cut and laid in the foundations just as a bit of extra security where there was just soil and no clay

    My house is built directly on the clay, if I dig down about 14 inches then that’s where the brickwork ends and the clay starts, it’s not moved in 100 years so I think we do over engineer our ponds a little, all the pressure on a pond wall is actually sideways not downward anyway

    Exactly the same here mate. Couldn't believe it when building control demanded minimum 1.2 metre deep foundations for my attached garage when the house only went down 12"!
