CBA left bottom of my pond with coating
Hello
Got the blanket weed starting to come on 3 week ago so did a CBA treatment.
mixed it all very well and followed the advice to the letter however the bottom of my pond has this horrible beige coating that does not seem to wan to shift.
Tired brushing it off but it is very solidly stuck on there.
The blanket weed on the sides has gone - looks like hair clipper to a number 2 but still has some of this residue on it but I can live with that.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to shift this residue on the bottom
thanks
Jim

A lot of people have had problems in the past with CBA as it was a bit too aggressive if that's the correct terminology? Some were using it half or even quarter strength and found it was still work. I seem to remember reading on here that the more recent CBA was a weaker mix or had less harsh chemicals in it? I used it one year and lost a few fish because of it and also the instructions on how to use it were a bit vague. I was then put onto Aquasource Resolve and have been using it for the last 3 or 4 years at full strength with no issues - famous last words
First year I used it, it did exactly what it said on the tin (or should that be tub lol ) as in turned the water milky for a day or so then slowly cleared, then the blanket weed started to disappear. 2nd year I tried it, the water only went milky for a very short length of time but still worked a treat on the blanket weed.
So basically -
CBA is OK but just watch the dosage.
Aquasource is better.
Good luck

My understanding (and I’m happy to be corrected) is the old version bad high zinc content which led to some issues.
For me Resolve, Resolve Resolve - great stuff, fish friendly and not overly expensive. A few of my customers have always struggled with BW, however this solved it.
Happy to supply if local stockists are struggling currently - I’ve got a decent supply of 1kg tubs.

Yes that was kind of what I was saying just couldn't remember if it was weakening the stuff or changing what was in it and the CBA I used was the full monty version which was probably bought in 2012?
Being new to using chemicals in ponds firstly I didn't know to add extra aeration into the water and also didn't remove enough of the blanket weed before adding the CBA so I had a load of dead blanket weed in the pond which lowered the oxygen content of the water and raised the Ammonia levels to a very high and toxic level which did the damage.

I used cba year before last. My fish where leaping out the water. All I use now is resolve half a dose then 2 months later another half dose. Obviously depends how bad the weed is. If real bad full dose

Hi is Aquasource resolve suitable with sturgeons? I have had quite bad HA for the last couple of years and am using pink crystals but as good as it is it never fully gets rid of the algae for more than a month or two.
