Newly Inherited pond needs treating
Ive recently moved and inherited 23000 ltr koi pond along with the fish themselves. I am therefore new to the world of Koi but want to embrace this opportunity and ensure the pond and fish are well cared for.
The pond appears to have been neglected for a little while and needs treating and i have as such identified malachite and formalin to be the best option. can anybody advise the required dosage required for the mix?

Hello and welcome. Unfortunately you need to know what you're treating for before adding medication. You might before adding treatment that wont work for the parasite or issue you have. You could have fluke which m+f won't treat or you could have a bacterial issue if the pond and filters have been neglected. Firstly I would give the filters a very good spring clean... With the pond water and not tap water. I'd also recommend a 25% water change. Get a microscope to scrape the fish to see if have parasite the you'd know what to treat for
Hope this help

Welcome mate, that's a good sized Koi pond you've got.
What filtration does the pond have and how many Koi, and is it all operating as it should?
Are the koi showing any symptoms that has determined the need for FMG (Fomalin/Malachite Green)?
Adding treatments is normally a last resort once a particular parasite or disease has been positively ID'd.

Where are you in the country? Maybe best to get some proper guidance before you make any serious mistakes and possibly harm your fish.

Welcome mate. Enjoy the forum.
What is the problems for you to want to treat the pond.
Is it weed. Is it fish flashing. Or is the water murky.
You don t want to be throwing treatments in willy nilly.
If you could write up for us to understand
Your pond.
Could you write on here what your water parameters are
PH
Nitrite
Ammonia.
Nitrate.
KH
If you have nt got a testing kit. API fresh water master kit. Link

Also could you put photos up so we can better understand your problem.
Also your setup
Pump size
Filteration
UV
How many fish.
Sorry for all the questions. But to help we need to know most of these.
Also koi should only be treated after a scrape. Then microscope. With the right medication.
Hope this helps fred
