    Hi mate,

Are your water readings still ok after the 2 FMG treatments?

For Costia I would recommend use PP Rather than FMG and stay away from the pre-mix.

    PP assuming ok to proceed:

1 - if you follow the pack you won’t OD. These are usually ok the side of caution.

2 - Have some Hydrogen Peroxide on hand in case the koi struggle - I.e. gasp for oxygen at the surface etc...

3 - increase aeration as much as you can. PP depletes oxygen levels in the water.

4 - when the water turns from purple to brown/ tea the PP has died. If this does not last for 4 hours do not add another full dose.

5 - add HP at the end of the treatment regardless as that will finalise the neutralise and add needed oxygen back and will help the water clear agai.

6 - make sure the UV is off.

7 - make sure you check on them regularly during the PP treatment

Happy to chat through if needed mate.

When I PP. I had to use a lot more for the volume of my pond to keep it purple.
I think the reason was because of ST.

I added the PP over a period of about 40 minutes. A bit at a time I did nt want to shock the fish.

When I got to the recommended dosage it was still brownish.
So I just added more. And eventually it went purple.

Like gaz says. Plenty of air in there. And I never left the pond at all.
And I had ST on stand by ready to add to the pond in case something went wrong.

After about 2 hours my water started to go brown. And I added a little more. To get it back to purple.
Then added My ST. Job done and all my fish where sorted. Trich clean.

Kh is better then ST. As it puts oxygen back in the pond water. I used ST as I did nt have any KH.

    Good luck with the treatment
    Fred

Have a half dose mixed ready so you can top up a bit at a time if water starts turning brown, water needs to stay purple for 4 hours. Use a timer.

Lots of extra air needed during treatment as it strips O2 out of the water.

I had a koi that reacted to Pp so had an aerated large bowl ready just in case with untreated pond water.

HP for neutralising the Pp at 4 hours. If you donít have HP you can use ST but the water will stay brown.

Pp is no longer active when the water turns brown. If you have a lot of biological matter in the pond/filters then it will use the Pp quicker. Always good practice to deep clean filters, pond vac muck off pond floor and purge BDs before treating with Pp.

Also do not use Pp if you have salt in the pond.

I added mine very gradually from a 2 liter pop bottle sat upside down in my cetus seive, I slackend the cap so it just trickled out rather than a big shock like outhers have said, also I put loads of extra air in, and monitored the fish constantly for the four hours, I treated for same issue, good luck maybe consider a pond bomb or something to kick start the filters again, also some plants don't like it as well as tench, orfe, stergeon ect but mine all made it through, no point taking anything out before treatment that you are going to put back after if that makes sense, I treated whole thing to be sure it cleared the issue

Why take out your media which could be harbouring parasites? Treat everything in the pond and filters.

Donít feed for a week or so but it shouldnít cause too much die back

You have to treat everything mate. And when it's in. Go around the pond and scrub some above the water line. In case the there is some above the water line. Don t forget to turn UV off.
